Spanish football expert claims FC Barcelona could make a sensational raid on Emirates Stadium once again for Arsenal record signing Mesut Ozil.
FC Barcelona are plotting a shock cut-price move for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, reports talkSPORT.
The 25-year-old only joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in September for a club-record transfer fee of £42.5m, but his stock has since lowered slightly after a difficult induction period in the Premier League.
He still has four years remaining on his current contract and teammate Per Mertesacker has backed his form to improve significantly next season.
However, Arsenal could be willing to sell this summer and Barcelona are preparing to pounce, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish football expert Paul Breen-Turner told talkSport that Ozil is a “very serious target” for Barcelona and that the Catalan club are “talking about a figure of £30m”.
If Ozil were to move to the Camp Nou, it would be likely to signal the end for former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who is a long-term target of Manchester United.
The Red Devils were unsuccessful with multiple bids for Fabregas last summer and it is understood that the Old Trafford outfit are about to reignite their pursuit of the 26-year-old.
Fabregas has fallen somewhat out of favour under Gerardo Martino in recent months and has completed 90 minutes in just one of Barca’s last seven matches.
United are said to value Fabregas, who is under contract until June 2016, at around £40m.
