Tottenham’s ongoing search for fresh striking options will see the north London side launch a bid for Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez according to the Daily Mail.

The 24 year old is currently out with a lengthy injury that could see the England man sidelined until November but that doesn’t appear to concern the White Hart Lane outfit who are clearly big admirers of the former Burnley man.
Rodriguez has recently had an anterior cruciate operation following the injury he suffered against Man City and will not be fit for the 2014 World Cup finals but has shown enough to convince Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to make an offer for his services.
The powerful marksman has been in fine form this term, scoring 18 goals in all competitions, and helping his St Mary’s side to secure a comfortable mid-table finish.
Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino faces a tough summer trying to keep hold of his best talents with the likes of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Luke Shaw likely to be targeted by the Premier League big-boys.
Rodriguez moved to Southampton in a £7m deal back in June 2012 and would cost upwards of twice that fee after his impressive showing in the English top tier.
Southampton v Everton
Everton AWAY WIN (2.50)
“Everton are favourites on the road here, but that’s no surprise given they have all to play for, and Southampton have nothing on this match, something which has really shone through in their last few matches.
Everton are 3rd in the last 5 matches form table, winning 4 of those contests, including against both Manchester United, and Champions League rivals, Arsenal, at home.
Last weekend against United they were by far the better side on the day, it was a comfortable 2-0 win, and that will be a real boost for them, as they needed to bounce back after losing to Palace.
Southampton are 16th in the form table, they’ve looked a tired team of late, and although they controlled the game v Villa last week, they didn’t look that threatening going forward.
Everton have picked up a point more on the road this season, than what Southampton have taken at St Mary’s.”
