St Mary’s boss Mauricio Pochettino will struggle to keep hold of the England international duo who will have their pick of big sides in the summer and may well both be part of Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup squad, where their value could further increase.

Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers has Champions League football to offer the pair and will hope to have the financial boost needed to make a significant offer for the Saints stars.

Lallana is into his eighth season at Southampton and has racked up an impressive total of nine goals and half a dozen assists in Premier League action alone and could be seen by Rodgers as a long term replacement for Steven Gerrard.

With Jose Enrique being out for most of the season with a knee injury Rodgers will have been pleased with the displays of youngster John Flanagan but may see Shaw as a better fit in the role, meaning in time he can shift Flanagan back to his more common position on the right.
