It’s looking increasingly likely that veteran boss Louis van Gaal will take the reins following the 2014 World Cup finals and the Dutch national team coach will have presumably given the green light for a massive summer spending spree that could lead to Man United forking out over £150m.

Regeneration appears to be the name of the game as a number of the club’s old guard look set to leave in the summer whilst a number of young talents look likely to fill their positions.

With Patrice Evra looking increasingly likely to leave when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign Man United are set to table an offer for highly rated Southampton teenager Luke Shaw.

The £30m rated England man is hotly tipped to move to Man United to fill the left-back berth though Chelsea may also enter a race to capture the 18 year old.

Shaw has matured in his second season in the St Mary’s first team set-up, surpassing all expectations to rack up 37 starts in all competitions this term. The Southampton man may well sneak into Roy Hodgson’s 2014 World Cup finals squad an in turn drive up his value further.

Man United continue to track German international Toni Kroos who they hope to lure to Old Trafford with the promise of a big pay-rise.

The 24 year old is unhappy about his current £60k a week salary and wants parity with the likes of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, believed to be earning three times that figure. Man United are ready to offer Kroos an astonishing £260k a week deal, which may be next to impossible to ignore.

Toni Kroos is valued at £30m by the Guardian and it’s a price Man United appear ready to pay for the midfield schemer who would offer the Premier League side some much needed guile and verve in the centre of the park.

In a summer that looks set to be filled with Man United offers for big-name players this is perhaps the real ‘marquee’ target.

Man United are ready to make a big money move for PSG forward Edinson Cavani and are willing to offer a club record £54m for the 27 year old Uruguayan.

Cavani scored 104 goals in three season in Naples before moving to PSG where he has played second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, used frequently in a wide role that perhaps doesn’t suit his style of play.

Though the 24 year old has netted 24 goals in all competitions he has tellingly scored just three times in Ligue 1 in 2014 and is said to be unsettled at the club.

Interest in Cavani would appear to suggest that the likes of Robin Van Persie and Javier Hernandez could be on their way out to make room for the Parc des Princes star.

Man United are also set to make a fresh move for £40m rated Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas £40m in a move that is perhaps now back on the table following the club’s transfer ban being lifted for the summer.

Man United could well do with shuffling their midfield pack and the likes of Darren Fletcher, Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley and Shinji Kagawa may all be fighting for their futures at the club and as such a move for reinforcements in the area make a great deal of sense.

Whilst it’s true that Fabregas is often hauled off and does occasionally fail to make it into Gerardo Martino’s starting eleven for key games the simple fact is that the former Arsenal man has played more football for Barcelona than any other outfield player and is the club’s leading assist maker.

However Fabregas has become something of a scapegoat for Barcelona’s average campaign and has been the subject of some abuse from the Nou Camp faithful but whether that will lead to the 26 year old demanding an exit this summer is another matter.
