Roberto Martinez (Everton)
The young Spaniard has made a great impression in his debut campaign in charge at Goodison Park, with the Toffees still very much in with a chance of finishing this season in the top four of the Premier League, and with it gain entry into the Uefa Champions League, which ironically would be at the expense of the north London club.
And the easy-on-the-eye football that Martinez has always encouraged his teams to play, whether that be at Swansea City, Wigan Athletic or now in his new role on Merseyside would make him the ideal candidate to take over from the Frenchman at the Emirates.
Jurgen Klopp (Borussia Dortmund)
The highly rated German guided Dortmund to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, despite having to compete against the power of Bayern Munich, while last year Klopp also managed to steer his team through to the final of the Uefa Champions League too.
And it those remarkable achievements that have subsequently made Klopp one of the most sought-after young trainers currently plying their trade on the Continent, with a number of big-name clubs having been mentioned in the same sentence as the Dortmund boss of late.
However, this summer could be the perfect time for Klopp to start a new challenge in his managerial career in an overseas league …
Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid)
The Argentinian’s star could not be shining brighter at present following Atletico’s shock win over Chelsea in the Uefa Champions League semi-finals at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, while the Spanish outfit are also now just two wins away from claiming a highly unlikely triumph in La Liga too.
And if El Cholo does manage to pull off that remarkable feat, then he will be a man in demand this summer, and most certainly a coach that the north Londoners should be weighing up making a move for should Wenger opt to quit the Emirates, especially given the incredible transformation that he has managed to bring about in his relatively short time in charge at the Vicente Calderon.
Remi Garde (Lyon)
The former Arsenal holding midfielder is fast developing a growing reputation back in Wenger’s homeland as being one of the brightest coaches in Ligue 1, with Garde having been in charge at the Stade Gerland for the past three years now.
And with his previous connections to the north London club, many see Garde as being the perfect contender to replace his compatriot in the Emirates hot seat next season.
Steve Bould (Arsenal)
Unlikely, although you never know, with the former Gunners centre back having been working alongside the Frenchman now as his assistant manager for the past two years, with Bould mainly concentrating on improving the north Londoners’ defensive issues, with some success.
However, it would also represent something of a major gamble were Bould to be asked to step up and take on what would be the 51-year-old’s first-ever managerial role.
