Five Young Players Linked With Moves To Liverpool This Summer

Five players aged 23 and under that could be Anfield bound this summer.

5. Antoine Griezmann – Real Sociedad

The 23-year-old has been in outstanding form for Sociedad this season, as he has racked up 16 goals from out wide to keep the club at the right end of the table for the second season running. Having previously been a target for both Manchester United and Arsenal in recent weeks, the Reds have now jumped in and declared their own interest by sending a scouting team to watch him in action. He would make a fine addition to the club’s attacking options, though he would come with a hefty price tag.

4. Steven Caulker – Cardiff City

The England international has been one of the standout performers for a lacklustre Cardiff side this season and is now most likely going to move on in the summer following the club’s return to the Championship. The 22-year-old not only excelled in defence, but also proved that he possesses a viable goal threat from corners too as he clocked up an impressive five goals. The Reds have had their problems at the back this term, and Brendan Rodgers is said to be looking into bringing Caulker to Anfield to become a star in his defence in the long term.

3. Ogenyi Onazi – Lazio

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for Lazio this season, and his all action displays have caught the attention of Brendan Rodgers, who looks to add some more bite into his engine room. Already a Nigerian international, he will likely be in the country’s squad heading to the World Cup this summer, and his marshalling of the midfield could be just what Rodger’s has lacked this term as his side slipped up in the title chase.

2. Cristian Tello – Barcelona

The Barcelona starlet has been on the verge of leaving the club for sometime, as he has struggled to cement a first team spot for himself on a regular basis. However, the 22-year-old has been involved in a series of rows with coach Tata Martino recently and his time with the club may finally be over as Liverpool look to step up their interest. Liverpool want to strengthen their squad for next season ahead of a Champions League campaign, and Rodgers believes the forward will provide some extra nous in attacking positions.

1. Mateo Kovacic – Inter Milan

The young Croatian has been billed as one of Serie A’s brightest stars, but despite his fleetingly brilliant performances this term he’s not been able to get a regular foothold in the side and has subsequently been linked with a swift summer exit. With Champions League football on offer, and Brendan Rodgers’ excellent track record with developing young stars, the 20-year-old may find the call of Anfield too great to turn down.
