Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has been promised significant funds to invest in his high-flying Anfield squad, keen to see his side kick-on after an excellent campaign, and has earmarked moves for a quartet of talents.

CaughtOffside understands that despite the likelihood that Liverpool are to lose their fight for a Premier League title the club’s American owners are keen to back Rodgers to the hilt in the summer transfer market.

Liverpool are set to register their interest in Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana and are hopeful that a £20m bid will act as a catalyst to the England man demanding a St Mary’s exit.

The in-form England man is seen as a long term replacement for Steven Gerrard but Rodgers hopes to use the pair together next season with the Liverpool veteran more commonly used in a withdrawn role that will offer Lallana space to roam between midfield and attack.

The 25 year old has excelled in the Premier League this term and is more than ready to make an impact at the highest level and the long serving Saints star may feel the chances of securing regular first football at Liverpool are more realistic than at Chelsea where many English talents have floundered.

In an effort to add more steel to his midfield Brendan Rodgers will make his interest in re-signing Javier Mascherano known to Barcelona, who are looking to offload a number of first team players as part of a squad overhaul that they can now look to put into operation having seen their transfer ban suspended.

The 29 year old Argentine is still very much a fan favourite at Liverpool and could be tempted by a return to Merseyside. Currently Rodgers relies almost exclusively on Lucas Leiva to act as a defensive midfield outlet but the Brazilian has had a fair few issues with a long standing knee injury and the fact that Mascherano is effective in a central defensive role will lead to a bid of as much as £16m for the tough tackler.

Mascherano made 139 appearances for Liverpool prior to his £19m move to the Nou Camp back in August 2010.

Liverpool’s push for a fresh wide-attacking option has led Rodgers to Serie A and a growing interest in Torino’s Alessio Cerci who has had a standout campaign, displaying form that has led to a run in the Italian national team set-up.

The 26 year old former AS Roma man has not only notched up 13 goals in 33 Serie A starts but is also the Italian top tier’s third highest assist maker.

Rodgers is unlikely to pursue loaned in Chelsea man Victor Moses and is ready to offload Iago Aspas, Fabio Borini and Oussama Assaidi to make room for an attacking addition and is ready to meet Torino’s £18m price-tag and will look to enter talks with the stylish winger before the World Cup gets underway.

In an effort to further strengthen his leaky defence Brendan Rodgers will re-ignite his interest in long term target Ashley Williams, with an £8m bid for the Swansea City defender in the offing.

Though a move for the Welshman doesn’t exactly adhere to Rodgers’ youthful transfer policy the Northern Irish boss considers the centre-back as the ideal man to offer a steady presence at the back and knows the 29 year old well from his time at the Liberty Stadium.
