The England international has enjoyed a fine campaign in the centre of the park for the Reds, so much so that Henderson is even in line now to earn a place in Three Lions head coach Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

Henderson, 23, has so far managed to record a hugely impressive five goals and seven assists in total in his 39 matches in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers’s high-flying unit, including four strikes and seven assists in his 34 Premier League contests for the club.

It is that kind of eye-catching attacking form from midfield though that has now resulted in the player being offered a new deal to replace the contract that Henderson signed when joining the club from Sunderland in the summer of 2011 on a five-year contract for a fee of £18m.

And now Henderson is understood to have agreed in principle to extend his stay on Merseyside by another four years in what will be a big boost to Liverpool’s fans.
