The Premier League Season In Numbers: Gerrard’s 10 Penalties, Negredo’s Nine Goals For City, Mourinho Unbeaten In Eight Against Arsenal And More

A few stats from the latest Premier League season.

10 – Steven Gerrard has scored 10 penalties for Liverpool this season and is now just second behind Andy Johnson for most spot kicks converted in a single season.

10 – When Manchester United beat Hull City it was their tenth straight Boxing day Victory.

10 – For the first time in the Premier League, 10 manager’s left their club’s before the final day of the season. Those were; Andre Villas-Boas, David Moyes, Ian Holloway, Michael Laudrup, Paolo Di Canio, Steve Clarke, Chris Hughton, Malky Mackay, Martin Jol and Rene Meulensteen.

9 – Record Norwich City striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel managed to take just nine shots from his 25 Premier League appearances this season, scoring just one – on the opening day of the season in a 2-2 draw with Everton.

9 – Goals scored by Manchester City’s Alvaro Negredo, who cost City £16m from Sevilla last summer.

8 – Daniel Sturridge became only the second player in Premier League history to score in eight consecutive games, the only other player to do so is Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who scored ten in a row whilst at Manchester United.

8 – Jose Mourinho is now unbeaten in eight games against Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, winning three and drawing five.

8 – All eight of Samuel Eto’o’s goals in the Premier League came at Stamford Bridge.

7 – Craig Bellamy became the first player to score a goal in the Premier League for seven different clubs. Those being Coventry City, Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers, Liverpool, West Ham United, Manchester City and Cardiff City.

7 – Manchester United lost seven home games in the Premier League – a club record.

7 – Lee Cattermole received the seventh red card of his short career this season, and is now just one early bath behind the likes of Richard Dunne, Patrick Vieira and Duncan Ferguson, who all hold the record on eight.

6 – Nicolas Anelka became just the ninth player to find the net for six different Premier League clubs. The former France international has scored for Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea and West Bromwich Albion in the top flight.

6 – Sunderland scored six own goals this season.

6 – Newcastle lost six consecutive games for the first time in their Premier League history.

5 – Jose Mourinho has failed to win in any of his five visits to Villa Park as manager when his Chelsea side went down by a goal to nil earlier this season. The Blues have only found the net once at Villa Park with Mourinho in charge.

5 – Scott Parker became the first player ever to represent five different London based clubs in the Premier League by turning out for Fulham. The other four have been Charlton Athletic, Chelsea, West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur.

5 – Steven Gerrard has now found the net at Old Trafford than any other visiting player in the Premier League. The Liverpool skipper netted twice from the penalty spot in a 3-0 win during the 2013-14 campaign.

4 – Mark Hughes became the first manager to beat Arsenal with four different Premier League clubs. Those being; Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Fulham and Stoke City.

4 – Nemanja Vidic has been sent off four times against Liverpool. The other two of his total of six reds came against Chelsea.

4 – Luis Suárez became only the fourth player to score at least 3 hat-tricks in a single Premier League season. The Liverpool striker picked up the match ball in games against West Brom, Norwich City and Cardiff this season. Alan Shearer (twice), Ruud van Nistelrooy and Dimitar Berbatov have all scored at least three hat-tricks in a single season previously.

3 – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won just three of his 18 games in charge of Cardiff City this season, losing 12 and drawing three.

3 – Vincent Kompany has now been sent off three times in his Premier League career, with all three dismissals coming as a straight red.

3 – There were only three Welshmen that started the first-ever Premier League Welsh derby. Craig Bellamy was Cardiff’s sole Welsh representative whilst Swansea City had Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor in their starting XI. Neither subs bench included a player from Wales.

2 – Newcastle managed to score just two goals when top scorer Loic Remy was not on the pitch.

2 – Sunderland did the double over Newcastle in the Tyne-Wear derby for the first time in the twelve seasons they have been in the Premier League together

2 – James Wilson + Adnan Januzaj both scored braces on their full Premier League debuts for Manchester United, with Wilson overtaking Januzaj as the club’s youngest goalscorer.

1 – Aston Villa were the only team to beat Arsenal at the Emirates this season, with Paul Lambert’s men clocking up a 3-1 victory of the opening day. The Gunners played the rest of their home games unbeaten.

1 – Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore scored just one goal in 30 Premier League appearances this season. It came in a 3-4 home loss to Chelsea and the USA international has now bagged just two goals in 58 Premier League appearances in his career.

1 – Manchester United won just one of their 12 games against top six sides this season, all under David Moyes. Last season, Sir Alex Ferguson’s champions only won four of their 12 matches versus the top six.
