How Arsenal’s XI Could Look Next Season After Summer Spending Spree Including Chelsea Striker Capture & Saints Enforcer Signing

How the Emirates Stadium side could line-up in 2014/15 if Arsene Wenger secures the top talents he needs to help steer the Gunners to major silverware.

Goalkeeper – Wojciech Szczesny

Young Pole to retain his spot between the sticks. Made a few glaring errors in 2013/14 but on the whole is a safe pair of hands and a player with a bright future.

Left-Back – Kieran Gibbs

England man gets the nod over Nacho Monreal and has earned another season as first choice in the position.

Centre-Back – Per Mertesacker

German international has been rock solid this season, forming a near flawless partnership with Koscielny that may well lead to Thomas Vermaelen seeking a summer exit.

Centre-Back – Laurent Koscielny

Frenchman has been reliable as ever and is arguably one of Arsenal’s most consistent performers and is sure to play a prominent role at the upcoming World Cup finals.

Right-Back – Serge Aurier

With Bacary Sagna likely to leave Arsenal when his contract expires Arsenal are said to be closing in on the highly rated Toulouse defender who could well be the ideal replacement. Very much an unknown quantity with potential and as such an archetypal Wenger capture.

Left Midfield – Antoine Griezmann

Youngster has had a break-through season in La Liga and is said to be on the Gunners radar and very much the type of creative wide option that could help shoulder some of the goal-scoring burden. Griezmann has scored an impressive 20 goals in all competitions this term.

Defensive Midfield – Morgan Schneiderlin

Southampton man is seen by Wenger as a long term replacement for ineffective Spaniard Mikel Arteta and could be one of a host of Saints players set for moves away from the south-coast side this summer.

Central Midfield – Aaron Ramsey

Welshman has had an outstanding season and was sorely missed during his three months out on the sidelines, returned to great effect, netting a beauty against Norwich City on the final day of the Premier League season.

Attacking-Midfield – Mesut Ozil

Has perhaps not delivered as much as some had expected but the German is sure to get into gear next term and will be a player Wenger looks to build his attack around.

Right Midfield – Theo Walcott

2013/14 was wrecked by injuries but the England man still made a real impact when called upon and will hope to be fit and ready when pre-season activity begins in earnest after the World Cup finals.

Striker – Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea youngster would be the ideal fit to lead the Arsenal attack and is a player Arsene Wenger is known to admire. Jose Mourinho proved with the sales of Juan Mata to Man United that he’s no averse to selling talents to Premier League rivals and the north London club would do well to make a sizable offer for the 21 year old Belgian.
