London XI 2013/14: Premier League Team Of The Season Made Up Of Players Plying Their Trade In the Capital

The best starting XI made up of players from London sides this season.

According to Statsbase Who Scored, here is the best starting XI made out of players based at London clubs this season.

GK: Wojciech Szczesny – Arsenal

WhoScored rating: 7:03

The Polish international started the season without much confidence behind him, but he has managed to silence his critics with a series of fine performances that have been a far cry from where he was at during the 2012/13 season. However, his place in the side may still come under threat this summer.

LD: Joel Ward – Crystal Palace

WhoScored Rating: 7.28

The Palace full-back is a surprise inclusion in the side, but his overlapping on the left side of the pitch was a constant nightmare for opposition defences as Palace clawed their way back up the Premier League table.

CB: Laurent Koscielny – Arsenal

WhoScored Rating: 7:32

Koscielny was in top form again this season, despite an opening day red card against Villa. He quickly recovered from that blip, though, as he went on to show just how valuable to the club’s cause he really is.

CB: Gary Cahill – Chelsea

WhoScored Rating: 7.29

The England international has now seemingly surpassed his partner and compatriot John Terry at Stamford Bridge, and worked his way into this side with ease as he has turned into the kind of defender that everyone knew he could be.

RB: Branislav Ivanovic – Chelsea

WhoScored Rating: 7.30

The powerful Serb is a right-back for the most part, but capable of filling in on the right flank, meaning that he has been able to push his rating up thanks to functioning into two positions with two different sets of skills.

CM: Aaron Ramsey – Arsenal

WhoScored Rating: 7.72

The Welsh ace began the season in such electric form that he appeared to be the answer to many of the Gunners problems, but his old injury concerns flared up once again midway through the campaign and Arsenal had to do without what was arguably their most in form player at a crucial stage of their title race.

CM: Mesut Ozil – Arsenal

WhoScored Rating: 7.25

For someone who cost in excess of £40m you’d expect him to be in many ‘teams of the season’, but Ozil took no time at all in getting to grips with life in the Premier League and will surely see his ranking soar even higher next term as he continues to get used to the English game.

CM: Mile Jedinak – Crystal Palace

WhoScored Rating: 7.54

The hulking Australian international was one of the main reasons behind Palace’s late season surge up the table. His leadership combined with his combative qualities earned him many new admirers as well as ensuring Premier League status, though it would be no surprise to see another club come in for him over the summer.

LAM: Eden Hazard – Chelsea

WhoScored Rating: 7.65

Hazard has finally taken the step up to show exactly what he can do following a sluggish start to his career in England. Chipping in with goals and assists in equal measure, he has proved to be a real handful for any opponent he has come up against this season.

RAM: Santi Cazorla – Arsenal

WhoScored Rating: 7.34

Cazorla may not have pushed on from where he was the previous season, despite having an impressive campaign nonetheless. However, he will be hoping for more of a contribution next term if the club are to press on for the title.

ST: Olivier Giroud – Arsenal

WhoScored Rating: 7.36

The French international shouldered the burden of being the club’s only out and out goalscorer this season reasonably well, bagging himself 16 goals despite the fatigue and outscoring every other striker in the capital city.
