Arsenal sent a team of representatives to Germany to negotiate a deal for the 20-year-old during the January transfer window, but talks broke down when the Bundesliga side refused to part with their star man for any less than their £37.2m valuation.
And speculation was mounting recently that hinted at Arsenal making a return for the German international again this summer, but Draxler’s agent, Roger Wittmann, has suggested that any approach may be rebuffed as the player is in no rush to leave the club anytime soon.
He has to feel comfortable and he has to be happy,” Wittmann told Goal of Draxler.
“Julian’s desire is to play for Schalke next season.”
Draxler appeared to struggle for form since Arsenal made their initial approach in the new year, but Wittman has now claimed that his client is over the worst of his troubles.
“He had a phase where things did not run so smoothly,” Wittmann admitted. “Every player experiences this. But he got himself out of it. He coped with the situation well and in the future he has to do so again.
“Now we have to see what the future holds for him and if he can live up to the things he expects from himself.”
