Highly rated Hamburg midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has revealed that he wants to quit the Bundesliga club this summer, with both Chelsea and Arsenal said to be interested in signing the player according to reports in the Daily Express.

The Turkey international has just enjoyed an eye-catching campaign with his club side, with Calhanoglu managing to register an impressive 11 goals and four assists in total in his 32 league outings.

And now it is said that both the west London club and the their arch rivals from across the capital are lining up bids to try to lure Calhanoglu to the Premier League for next season.

“I told them [Hamburg] that I want to go – no matter whether we player in the first or second division,” said Calhanoglu, who is contracted to Hamburg until June 2018.

“I would definitely leave Hamburg. The fact is, I want to play in Europe and I want to make my parents happy.

“I want to go as far as Ronaldo and Messi. I want to be a world star.”

The Blues are said to want Calhanoglu to replace the departing Frank Lampard in the centre of the park at Stamford Bridge next season, while the north London club are believed to want the player to take over from Mikel Arteta in the engine room.
