The top transfer targets at the World Cup this summer.

As the World Cup approaches, clubs the world over will have their eyes peeled for bargains, hidden gems and big stars to spend their cash on during the transfer window, and we’ve compiled a list of the best three players from every country at this year’s tournament that could tempt teams to get the chequebook out.

England

Frank Lampard – Free Agent

The veteran midfielder has enjoyed a fine, if diminished role with the Blues this season, and upon the release of the Premier League’s free agent list Lampard has yet to be offered an extension at Stamford Bridge, and as it stands he is up for grabs. A strong showing could prompt a club either in Europe or the United States to move quickly to snap him up.

James Milner – Manchester City

Milner recently said that he is looking to leave the Premier League champions this summer as he is unhappy at playing a bit part role with the club. He will have no shortage of suitors when the transfer window re-opens, but his versatility and tireless running could provide him a few more options when July roles around.

Danny Welbeck – Manchester United

The 23-year-old enjoyed one of his most productive spells in front of goal last season, but rumour has it he is unhappy at Old Trafford, and could be looking to ship out. With Louis Van Gaal coming in he could be offered a fresh start, though the Dutchman is likely to bring his own players in meaning the languid wide man could face an uncertain future.
