Top 10 Memorable Goal Celebrations, Featuring Liverpool And Man City Stars

CaughtOffside rounds up 10 brilliant clips of goal celebrations for your viewing pleasure.

Craig Bellamy retired from professional football on Thursday.

The 34-year-old, who ended his playing career at Cardiff City, scored 19 goals during two spells at Liverpool.

One of those goals, scored in a 2-1 win at Barcelona in 2007, was celebrated by imitating a golf swing – mocking reports that he had hit teammate John Arne Riise with a club in an earlier incident.

That celebration features on our top 10 list.

10. Craig Bellamy – Liverpool (after two minutes and 12 seconds)9. Robbie Fowler – Liverpool

Similar to Bellamy’s, Fowler’s celebration related to media reports – claiming that the English forward had used cocaine. Fowler was fined £60,000 and given a four-game ban for pretending to sniff a white line on the pitch.

8. Mario Balotelli – Manchester City

Why always Mario?

7. Jurgen Klinsmann – Tottenham Hotspur (after one minute and 55 seconds)

Klinsmann was one of football’s original divers. He responded to allegations of simulation in hilarious fashion.

6. Jimmy Bullard – Hull City

On Boxing Day 2008, a lacklustre Hull trailed Man City 4-0 at half time. Manager Phil Brown was so angry that opted to embarrass his players by conducting his entire team talk on the pitch, with his first-team stars sitting on the grass like school kids. They eventually lost 5-1, but, just under a year later, Hull returned to the Etihad Stadium and drew 1-1 thanks to Bullard’s late penalty equaliser. His celebration, which recreated Brown’s famous team talk, was hilarious.

5. Kevin Nolan – Newcastle United

Not the most impressive celebration, but incredibly easy to copy.

4. Robbie Keane – Los Angeles Galaxy

Not many points for gymnastic execution, but full marks for perseverance. Keane has performed this naff, but loveable, celebration his entire career, which has included spells at Wolves, Coventry, Inter Milan, Leeds, Tottenham and Liverpool.
3. Temur Ketsbaia – Newcastle United

Ketsbaia must hate adverts. The crazy Georgian kicked one advertising hoarding quite viciously after scoring against Bolton in 1998.

2. Paul Gascoigne – England

Goalscorer Gazza recreates the infamous dentist chair along with Teddy Sheringham at Euro 96.

1. Stjarnan F.C.

A real team effort. This Icelandic club pride themselves on their goal celebrations. The below video shows just some of their brilliant comedic creations.
