The 10 Forwards With The Best Goal To Game Ratio In Europe In 2013/14 Including Ronaldo, Messi And Liverpool Ace

The players with outstanding scoring records across the biggest leagues on the continent.

Real Madrid beating Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday brought to an end the 2013/14 season for Europe’s biggest clubs.

It’s been another fine 12 months across the continent, with some impressive scoring performances seen once again.

So here are the 10 forwards with the best goal to game ratio of the last year.

8=. Mario Mandzukic, Bayern Munich

Games: 48.

Goals: 26.

Goals per game: 0.54.

Despite the fact Bayern are replacing Mandzukic’s role as the No.9 with Robert Lewandowski, the Croatian was still in fine form during their record breaking Bundesliga title win.

8=. Edin Dzeko, Manchester City

Games: 48.

Goals: 26.

Goals per game: 0.54.

The Bosnian started the term as fourth choice striker at the Etihad Stadium and yet his performances towards the end of the campaign played a key part in their Premier League triumph.

8=. Wilfried Bony, Swansea City

Games: 48.

Goals: 26.

Goals per game: 0.54.

Many teams from the English top flight were stung by their club record transfers this campaign, but not the Swans, who’s £12m arrival Bony was superb for the Welsh outfit.

7. Robert Lewandowski, Borussia Dortmund

Games: 48.

Goals: 28.

Goals per game: 0.58.

It may be a little clearer now why Bayern are bringing in Lewandowski despite already having Mandzukic and next term Pep Guardiola’s men look set to be even stronger.

6. Diego Costa, Atletico Madrid

Games: 52.

Goals: 37.

Goals per game: 0.71.

Not many would have predicted that after selling Radamel Falcao for £50m last summer Atletico would actually get better and their first La Liga triumph in 18 years was thanks largely to the goals from the Colombian’s replacement in attack.

5. Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

Games: 34.

Goals: 28.

Goals per game: 0.82.

Despite missing large chunks of the season due to injury, Aguero still managed to score a bagful of goals and if Manuel Pellegrini can keep the Argentine fit more consistently City are set just to continue improving.

4. Luis Suarez, Liverpool

Games: 37.

Goals: 31.

Goals per game: 0.84.

What a year it has been for the Uruguayan, who has seemed to put past controversies behind him to fire the Reds back to the Champions League and win PFA Player of the Year to boot.

2=. Lionel Messi, FC Barcelona

Games: 46.

Goals: 41.

Goals per game: 0.89.

It goes to show just how good Messi has been over the past few years that this season’s performances from the South American are considered below par, although Barca did fail to win any silverware for the first time since 2008.

2=. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paris Saint-Germain

Games: 46.

Goals: 41.

Goals per game: 0.89.

Now 32-years-old this Swede’s goalscoring capabilities appear to simply improve with age and Ibrahimovic’s displays helped PSG to back-to-back Ligue 1 titles.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid

Games: 47.

Goals: 51.

Goals per game: 1.09.

The only player on the list to average more than a goal a game in what has been a brilliant 12 months for Ronaldo, with the Portuguese superstar winning his second Ballon d’Or gong, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League.
