Arsenal’s Bacary Sagna has officially announced that he’s leaving the Emirates this summer, and Arsene Wenger will have some job on his hands replacing the stalwart Frenchman.

Here’s the five main candidates to replace him at the Emirates…

5) Lucasz Piszczek – Borussia Dortmund

The Polish right-back missed much of last season with injury, but is still on Arsene Wenger’s shortlist. He prides himself on being defensively excellent first and foremost, but he still has the ability to get forward and cross the ball with his sweet right-foot. His Bundelisga club are unlikely to sell though, but that hasn’t stopped the Gunners from alerting them of their interest.

4) Serge Aurier – Toulouse

The Ivorian has been the player most touted with replacing Sagna on the right of Arsenal’s defence. He’s still just 21, but was voted into the Ligue 1 Team of the Year last season thanks to his six goals and six assists from the right of defence. He’s physically superb, but will potentially have to temper his attacking dynamism.

3) Astuto Uchida – FC Schalke

The Japanese international currently stars in the Bundesliga for Schalke, and has been linked with a potential move to the Gunners as result. He’s diminutive and small, but works incredibly hard up the right flank, and has the quick feet with which to manoeuvre himself into crossing positions.

2) Calum Chambers – Southampton

The youngest name on this list, Chambers shot to prominence last term with Southampton, putting in exciting barnstorming performances up the right flank. He’s only 19-years-old, and while it’s unsure yet whether he could immediately step into Sagna’s boots, he definitely has the potential to develop into a leading Premier League right-back. Arsenal could make a bid as a result.

1) Juanfran – Atletico Madrid

Arsenal have already had a £9m for the 29-year-old rejected, but could return with more money for the member of Spain’s provisional 30-man squad. He just won La Liga with Atletico, and approaching 30, has reached the very peak of his defensive abilities.
