The French manager will look to address three areas of his squad as he seeks to push for a genuine Premier League title challenge next term having brought an end to a nine year long silverware drought earlier this month.

Wenger will look to bring in a right-back to replace Bacary Sagna and wants to sign a strong central midfielder whilst addressing his lack of striking options by signing two new strikers.

With regards to a new midfield engine Wenger hopes to bring in Bayer Leverkusen battler Lars Bender with the 25 year old being the top of Arsenal’s wish-list.

With Mikel Arteta putting in a largely ineffective campaign last term, Mathieu Flamini seemingly unable to command a regular first team starting berth and Abou Diaby being perennially injured there is certainly need for a strong tackler in the centre of the park.

Bender has long been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium and despite helping his BayArena side to a Champions League berth on the last day of the Bundesliga season the rangy midfielder could well be tempted to join fellow countrymen Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Mesut Ozil at Arsenal.

Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin is apparently seen as a back-up option.

Arsene Wenger is ready to put together a brand new strike partnership and the biggest name on his summer shopping list is Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

Though the French international enjoyed a great season at the Bernabeu last term, finally becoming the club’s out and out first choice starter following Gonzalo Higuain’s sale to Napoli, there s much speculation of Carlo Ancelotti’s interest in Premier League pair Luis Suarez and Sergio Aguero.

Wenger has been a well known Benzema admirer for many years, dating back to his emergence at Lyon, and now may be the right time to finally sign the forward.

If the 26 year old feels undermined by the prospect of a big name signing to challenge for his starting spot then he could look to call time on his five season spell in the Spanish capital.

Benzema has racked up 111 goals in 235 appearances for Real Madrid since moving to the La Liga side in July 2009.

Wenger will look to partner Benzema with QPR forward Loic Remy, a move that could well lead to Olivier Giroud considering his options at the Emirates Stadium.

The 27 year old French international had an excellent season on loan at Newcastle United last term, scoring 14 goals in 24 Premier League starts, but a move back to Loftus Road is seemingly unlikely and the chance to move to Arsenal could tempt the former Marseille man.

Arsenal were at times overly dependent on Giroud last term and the big forward’s ability to make a consistent impact in the Premier League was certainly questioned at times.

Real Madrid youngster Alvaro Morata and Bayern Munich star Mario Mandzukic are also said to be potential Arsenal targets this summer.

With Bacary Sagna confirming his Arsenal exit Arsene Wenger is also running the rule over a number of potential right-back signings with Carl Jenkinson apparently not seen as a regular first team starting option.

Toulouse’s Serge Aurier is seen as the most likely player to step into the breach though Southampton’s Callum Chambers is another who is said to be scouted by the north London club.

Sagna is edging towards a move to Man City having turned down Arsenal’s offer of a contract extension.
