Five Players Chelsea Should Sign To Win the Premier League Including Tottenham Ace And Two Champions League Winners

The new faces at Stamford Bridge that can improve the team.

After finishing third in the Premier League and making the Champions League semi-finals, Jose Mourinho’s return to Chelsea was solid if unremarkable in 2013/14.

The Blues finished without silverware for the first time under the guidance of Mourinho however, and as a result the 51-year-old will be looking to improve his team in the transfer market this summer.

Roman Abramovich is sure to pledge significant funds to his manager, but with the expectation that it is repaid with trophy wins and one of the key ones will be securing the Premier League title.

So here are five players Mourinho should sign in order to ensure that happens.

Diego Costa, Atletico Madrid

It seems that if any deal is certain to happen at Stamford Bridge this summer it’s the acquisition of the the Atletico top-scorer.

After netting 37 goals in all competitions in 2013/14 as Diego Simeone’s side won La Liga and reached the Champions League final, Costa is a very appealing option to solve Mourinho’s attacking issues.

Sami Khedira, Real Madrid

With Frank Lampard being strongly linked with an MLS switch and the futures of John Obi Mikel and Ramires in west London still uncertain, central midfield is a key area for improvement.

Having signed Khedira for Madrid from Stuttgart in 2011, Mourinho is clearly a fan of the Germany international.

Mario Mandzukic, Bayern Munich

The boss has publicly admitted that the key problem for his side is a lack of potency in attack and as a result the futures of Demba Ba, Samuel Eto’o and Fernando Torres in the English capital remains uncertain.

Therefore whilst the arrival of Costa would be brilliant, more support is needed and Mandzukic is looking for a way out of Bayern due to the arrival of Robert Lewandowski.

Paulinho, Tottenham Hotspur

With no Lampard and possibly no Mikel at the club, the arrival of Khedira may not be enough to plug the gaps in the middle of the park.

Therefore the west Londoners have been keeping a close eye on Tottenham’s £17m Brazilian, who although had an average first year in English football is still regarded as a fine talent.

Alex Sandro, FC Porto

With Ashley Cole leaving the Bridge this summer and Felipe Luis and Alberto Moreno both look like bypassing west London, another left-back needs to be found.

As good as Cesar Azpilicueta was in the role support for the Spaniard is needed and Mourinho may well return to the club that made his name and the impressive Sandro.
