Power Ranking the Most Valuable Players at the 2014 World Cup Finals

The ten players who would cost the most money if available on the transfer market this summer as based on valuations from Transfermarkt.

10. Mesut Ozil (Arsenal & Germany)

Value: £44m

The playmaker had an average first campaign at the Emirates Stadium but is certainly a player who can deliver the goods for both club and country.

9. Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona & Spain)

Value: £44m

27 year old hasn’t quite made the impact he would’ve hoped for following his return to the Nou Camp but still a hugely valuable player.

8. Luis Suarez (Liverpool & Uruguay)

Value: £45m

A player who really should be far higher up this list based on most recent form following the forward’s excellent season at Liverpool.

7. Mario Goetze (Bayern Munich & Germany)

Value: £48m

A player with youth on his side though would certainly like a more prominent role at the Allianz Arena in 2014/15.

6. Andres Iniesta (Barcelona & Spain)

Value: £48m

Midfield maestro who never fails to deliver, a player who has ‘been there and done it’ for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team.

5. Neymar (Barcelona & Brazil)

Value: £52m

A lot will be expected of the youngster in his native Brazil and the stage is set for the Nou Camp starlet to make a huge impact.

4. Edinson Cavani (PSG & Uruguay)

Value: £52m

Supposedly unsettled at PSG but still managed to net 25 goals in all competitions and a player who could have to work without injured partner Luis Suarez for the early matches of the tournament.

3. Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco & Colombia)

Value: £52m

Colombia’s hopes of a strong tournament depend greatly on whether the AS Monaco man gets himself fit and ready for action in time for the big kick-off.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal & Real Madrid)

Value: £88m

Bernabeu megastar collected the Balon d’Or, finished top scorer in La Liga and then won the Champions League title and will hope to lead Portugal into the latter stages of the tournament.

1. Lionel Messi (Barcelona & Barcelona)

Value: £105m

When an ‘average’ season means scoring ‘only’ 41 goals in 46 appearances then you know just how incredible a talent the player concerned is. The stage could well be set for the mercurial talent to help Argentina to a World Cup win in Brazil.
