Chelsea are lining up a move to conduct a thorough Atletico Madrid raid with the Daily Star claiming that Jose Mourinho will look to sign a quartet of Vicente Calderon talents.

This source claims that the Blues have already agreed a £35m deal to bring in Brazilian born Spanish international Diego Costa, who netted 36 goals in all competitions last term, and will follow up that move by offering experienced midfielder Tiago a contract.

The 33 year old is set to leave Atletico Madrid as his current deal have expired and the Portuguese international may well be keen on a return to the Stamford Bridge side he represented in 2005.

Costa will certainly be a huge improvement on Chelsea’s current crop of strikers who all failed to make an impact last season.

Samuel Eto’o has not been offered a new contract so can leave the club this summer whilst Fernando Torres and Demba Ba are unlikely to have suitably impressed Mourinho to stand any chance of anything more than a limited role at Chelsea next term.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will then look to strengthen his defence by triggering the release clause of two of Atletico Madrid’s most accomplished performers.

Uruguayan centre-back Diego Godin and Brazilian left-back Filipe Luis, who is presumably seen as a replacement for departing veteran Ashley Cole, will cost £20m each.

Despite the west London side’s intentions to ransack Diego Simeone’s squad Mourinho will not sanction another loan spell of keeper Thibaut Courtois.

The 21 year old Belgian has enjoyed three stellar campaigns on loan in the Spanish capital but will bring the youngster back to act as Chelsea’s first choice custodian.
