Five Players Liverpool Should Sign To Win The Premier League Title Including £25m England International

The stars the Reds need to bring in to win their first league title since 1990.

It was a frustrating 2013/14 season for Liverpool in some ways as they came agonizingly close to winning their first ever Premier League title.

As it was their second placed finish ensured a return to the Champions League and an improvement of five places in the English top tier from a year before.

Therefore the campaign has to be considered a rousing success, although manager Brendan Rodgers can’t afford to rest on that as the busy summer of transfers commences shortly.

With the Reds competing in four competitions next term Rodgers needs to strengthen his squad and here are five players the Northern Irishman should sign to ensure his side wins the title next time out.

Emre Can, Bayer Leverkusen

The Merseysiders’ boss is a big fan of this young German and sees the 20-year-old as the ideal candidate to come in and support what is already an impressive midfield.

Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson formed a fine partnership last campaign, but Can would be a step above Joe Allen and Lucas Leiva.

Adam Lallana, Southampton

With Rickie Lambert having already agreed a deal with the club Rodgers is hoping that his Saints teammate will also make the move up north in what is likely to be a £25m deal.

Things have taken a turn for the worse at St Mary’s since Mauricio Pochettino’s departure for Tottenham Hotspur and therefore their captain may well welcome a switch to Anfield.

Alberto Moreno, Sevilla

A real source of aggravation for many fans and pundits alike last season was the side’s inability to defend at times and many say that is what cost them the title to Manchester City in the end.

Jon Flanagan did a good job filling in at left-back, but with Jose Enrique injured and Aly Cissokho heading back to Valencia, signing the impressive 21-year-old Moreno could be the ideal step forward.

Marcos Rojo, Sporting Lisbon

Continuing with the theme of steadying things at the back, another problem area is central defence, where none of the current stars were consistent enough.

Martin Skrtel is a favourite of Rodgers, whilst it looks as if Mamadou Sakho possesses talent, but bringing in Rojo would be a huge bonus – especially as the Argentine can also play at left-back.

Xherdan Shaqiri, Bayern Munich

Finally attacking midfield needs to be bolstered desperately, because as impressive as starlets Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling have been over the past 12 months they need support.

That is where Shaqiri comes in, with the 22-year-old winger frustrated with life at Bayern currently and openly admitting he would consider a move away as long as it was to a Champions League club.
