The 10 Biggest Premier League Transfers Expected To Happen This Summer Including Arsenal And Liverpool Signings

The deals that we think will be completed in the close season.

With the 2013/14 season now over for the top clubs in Europe the transfer rumour mill is very much up and running and as always Premier League sides are expected to be involved in some big deals.

Liverpool have been the busiest so far, signing Rickie Lambert and Emre Can for a combined total of just under £14m, but the spending isn’t expected to end there.

Here are 10 deals CaughtOffside thinks will happen before the window slams shut.

10. Serge Aurier, Toulouse to Arsenal – £7m

One of Arsene Wenger’s main priorities this summer is signing a new right-back, due to the impending departure of Bacary Sagna when the Frenchman’s current contract expires.

Despite being linked with a number of names, it seems the Gunners will land the 21-year-old Aurier, with the Ivory Coast international’s agent admitting talks are in progress.

9. Remy Cabella, Montpellier to Newcastle United – £7m

Sticking in Ligue 1 and Newcastle’s pursuit of a replacement for Yohan Cabaye – who they sold to Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window.

Cabella has been impressing with Montpellier for some time and is seen as the ideal candidate to take up the playmaker role at St James’ Park.

8. Loic Remy, QPR to Arsenal – £8m

Other than a new right-back Wenger has admitted the main priority for his side is signing a new striker, with Olivier Giroud relied upon too much last term.

In Remy they may have found not only a player with proven credentials in the English top flight, but who would be a relative bargain at £8m.

7. Yevhen Konoplyanka, Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk to Manchester United – £12m

Despite nearly joining Liverpool for a similar price in January, it now seems to be the Red Devils that lead the race for this Ukraine international.

New United manager Louis van Gaal wants to improve his team’s creativity and Konoplyanka would like to play in England.

6. Fernando, FC Porto to Manchester City – £15m

City have long been in pursuit of this Brazilian midfielder, who would come in to face plenty of competition at the Etihad Stadium.

Of all the top sides the champions probably need their squad strengthening the least and Fernando will be up against Yaya Toure, Fernandinho and Javi Garcia for a place in the starting XI.

5. Alberto Moreno, Sevilla to Liverpool – £16.2m

Having already acquired Lambert and Can this summer, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers wants to add a few more players to his squad as they prepare for a return to Champions League football in 2014/15.

Moreno has had a fine year in La Liga and even made Vicente del Bosque’s preliminary Spain squad for the 2014 World Cup – although didn’t make the final cut.

4. Adam Lallana, Southampton to Liverpool – £25m

Sticking with the Merseysiders and another Saints target that they have had their eye on for some time, although there are some disagreements over the price.

There is something of an exodus being undertaken at St Mary’s currently, with Mauricio Pochettino and Lambert having departed in recent times and Lallana could well be next.

3. Cesc Fabregas, FC Barcelona to Chelsea – £30m

Barca are keen to cash in on this Spain international after a season in Catalonia where Fabregas was booed by his own fans.

The 27-year-old has failed to truly establish himself at the Nou Camp after a 2011 switch from Arsenal and with his former club rejecting the midfielder, the Blues are now the favourites for his signature.

2. Luke Shaw, Southampton to Manchester United – £30m

Another from the south coast now and a player that United have had their eye on for some time as a long-term replacement for Patrice Evra.

Shaw is currently away with the England team ahead of the World Cup and has earned quite a large reputation for someone who is still only 18-years-old.

1. Diego Costa, Atletico Madrid to Chelsea – £32m

If one deal is almost certain to happen it’s that of Costa, who is reported to have completed a medical at Stamford Bridge ahead of his move.

Jose Mourinho says he wants attacking support in west London and having scored 37 goals in all competitions last term, this 25-year-old certainly supplies that.
