Old Trafford side told to spend big if they want Juventus youngster.
Check in to France vs Honduras
Man United are reported to have made an approach to re-sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba only to be told by the Serie A club that it would take a bid of £60m to welcome the French international back to Old Trafford according to the Guardian.
Former boss David Moyes was said to have had an interest in the 21 year old during his brief tenure in charge of the club though perhaps the chances of such a deal have been increased now that the Scot has been replaced by hugely experienced manager Louis van Gaal.
Pogba left Man United in July 2012 having fallen out with Sir Alex Ferguson and has gone on to play a pivotal role in Turin, helping Juventus to back to back Serie A titles and is rightly considered one of the best young players in European football and a player who will play a prominent role in Didier Deschamps’ 2014 World Cup finals set-up.
Pogba has made 89 appearances for Antonio Conte’s side in two seasons and a player Man United seemingly underestimated and now are looking to bring back.
Van Gaal sees improving his midfield options as a priority this summer and as such a move for Pogba is a sensible, if optimistic, one to consider.
Toni Kroos and Cesc Fábregas of Bayern Munich and Barcelona respectively are two other Man United targets.
