Top 50 Premier League Transfer Targets: Summer 2014

A look at 50 players wanted by Premier League clubs this summer.

50. Dejan Lovren (Southampton)

After a highly impressive first season in the Premier League with Southampton, Croatian defender Dejan Lovren is now believed to be a top target for Liverpool, who could make him one of three signings in a sensational raid on the St Mary’s club. With striker Rickie Lambert already signed and Adam Lallana also in their sights, Lovren would be another top class addition for the Reds as they look to bolster their squad for the demands of Champions League football next season. With defence also a weakness for Brendan Rodgers’ side this term, Lovren certainly looks like a player capable of making the team more solid at the back.

49. Fabio Coentrao (Real Madrid)

After nearly sealing a move to Manchester United last summer, Fabio Coentrao remains on the radars of several top Premier League clubs. United are still being linked as admirers of the Portuguese left-back, as are Chelsea and Liverpool. All three clubs are known to be in the market for signings in that position this summer, and Coentrao’s potential availability makes him a realistic target and tempting option given his experience and success at a top club such as Real Madrid.

48. Bafetimbi Gomis (Lyon)

One of the most prolific and consistent strikers in French football for the last few years, Bafetimbi Gomis is set to be available on a free transfer this summer after allowing his contract with Ligue 1 side Lyon to run down. Several Premier League sides have been linked with the 28-year-old in the past, and he is already tipped to have a large number of suitors this summer. Recent reports suggest that newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers have opened talks with the player, and may now be the favourites to land this quality free agent.

47. Rodrigo (Benfica)

Spanish striker Rodrigo is attracting plenty of attention this summer after a prolific season with Portuguese giants Benfica. The 23-year-old scored 18 goals in all competitions as his side won the league and reached the Europa League final. Rodrigo has certainly made considerable strides since failed spells in Real Madrid’s youth team and on loan with Bolton Wanderers back in 2010/11, and has now been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool in recent months, as the Premier League seems an increasingly likely destination for him next season.

46. Bacary Sagna (Arsenal)

After seven years with Arsenal, tough-tackling right-back Bacary Sagna has made the decision to quit the club for a new challenge, and will be available on a free transfer this summer after rejecting offers of a new contract at the Emirates Stadium. The 31-year-old is being widely tipped to stay in England, with champions Manchester City the favourites to snap him up. Manchester United have also shown an interest, as have teams from abroad such as Inter Milan. Sagna will certainly be among the best free agents available on the market this summer, and it could be a major blow for Arsenal fans again if one of their best players does end up leaving for a rival club.

45. Serge Aurier (Toulouse)

With Sagna leaving, Arsenal may already be on track to signing a replacement at right-back, with impressive Toulouse youngster Serge Aurier being strongly linked with the Gunners. The 21-year-old looks a terrific prospect with his displays in Ligue 1, and he contributed six goals and six assists from the back this season, showing that he can offer plenty going forward as well as doing his duties at the back. Aston Villa have also previously been linked with the Ivory Coast international, but Arsenal now look the favourites to land him this summer.

44. Alberto Moreno (Sevilla)

Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno has been one of the best young players in Spain this season and will be one to look out for at this summer’s World Cup as well. There is still a chance that a big move could be completed before the holders kick off their defence of the tournament, with Liverpool currently looking the likeliest to get their hands on the talented 21-year-old. Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the player, who has also unsurprisingly attracted plenty of interest from clubs in his native Spain, with Real Madrid thought to be keeping tabs on his situation.

43. Luke Shaw (Southampton)

One of English football’s brightest young talents at the moment, Southampton left-back Luke Shaw has had another tremendous season in the Premier League, and has established himself for his country as well after edging Ashley Cole out for a place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for this summer’s World Cup. Manchester United look the favourites to sign him at present, but there has been plenty of talk over the last few months about the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool also looking to throw their hat into the ring. With great ability at the back and going forward, Shaw certainly looks ready to make the step up to a bigger club.

42. Marek Hamsik (Napoli)

After a slight dip in form this season, speculation has grown that Napoli could be ready to listen to offers for Slovakian playmaker Marek Hamsik. The 26-year-old has been one of the top attacking midfield players in Serie A over recent years, and he looks set to attract plenty of interest this summer if he is allowed to leave. Manchester United‘s desire to strengthen in that position has seen them linked with the player, though Chelsea have also been linked as contenders to sign him. A skillful and intelligent midfielder with an eye for goal, Hamsik would likely cost around £33m, but could be one of the signings of the summer if he can get back to his best. A new challenge in the Premier League could be just what he needs after ten years in Italy.

41. Hakan Calhanoglu (Hamburg)

Turkish youngster Hakan Calhanoglu could be heading to England this summer after a superb breakthrough season in the Bundesliga with Hamburg. Although Hamburg struggled against relegation for much of the year, eventually securing survival via a playoff victory, Calhanoglu had a fine individual season, scoring 11 goals and providing four assists for his team-mates. Still only 20, the attacking midfielder looks like one of the most promising young players in Europe at the moment, and it has been reported that Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool would all be ready to make offers to bring him to the Premier League ahead of next season.

40. Alex Song (Barcelona)

Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song has not had the best of times at Barcelona since his big-money move to the Nou Camp back in 2012. The Cameroon international now looks likely to be available after failing to break into the club’s starting lineup on a regular basis, with a move back to the Premier League looking on the cards. While there has also been talk of interest from several Italian clubs, Arsenal could be ready to take him back to the Emirates Stadium as they are yet to truly replace him in that defensive midfield role. Liverpool and Manchester United have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the 26-year-old.

39. Javier Pastore (Paris Saint-Germain)

With big-spending French giants Paris Saint-Germain likely to bring in yet more big names in this summer’s transfer window, it has been suggested that Argentine midfielder Javier Pastore could be one of their current squad to make way in the coming months. The 24-year-old was one of the club’s first major investments following their Qatari takeover in 2011, but he has struggled to find his best form for the Ligue 1 champions. The former Palermo man is wanted back in Serie A, but Liverpool and Manchester United are thought to be among his admirers from the Premier League.

38. Tom Ince (Blackpool)

With reports emerging that Blackpool winger Tom Ince has rejected a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan to remain in England, a Premier League club will surely snap up this highly promising England youngster this summer. The 22-year-old spent the second half of the 2013/14 season on loan with Crystal Palace, but it is currently thought that Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United would be the leading contenders for his signature. Although he is set to be out of contract with Blackpool, English clubs will have to pay a fee of around £5m in compensation to seal his transfer.

37. Loic Remy (Queens Park Rangers)

Loic Remy is set to be among the most in-demand strikers in England again this summer after also attracting plenty of interest last year. The prolific Frenchman has just completed a successful loan spell with Newcastle, scoring 14 goals in the league, though he does not look like making a permanent switch to St James’ Park from Queens Park Rangers, who also look unlikely to hold onto him despite their promotion back to the top flight from the Championship. Arsenal are in the market for a new striker and have reportedly been looking at him, a move which he is said to welcome. Liverpool could also be outsiders to snap him up as they keep an eye on his situation.

36. Dani Alves (Barcelona)

With a mass cull expected to take place at Barcelona this summer, Brazilian right-back Dani Alves could be among those to depart the La Liga giants. The 31-year-old has been integral to the team’s success since he joined from Sevilla back in 2008, and he still looks like he has something to offer as several top clubs around Europe show an interest in him. Although he will no doubt have big-money offers from Ligue 1, Manchester City could try to lure him to the Etihad Stadium, while Arsenal have also shown an interest in him at several points in his career.

35. Alvaro Morata (Real Madrid)

One of the brightest prospects at Real Madrid, young striker Alvaro Morata has been the subject of much transfer speculation throughout this season. A move to Serie A could still be on the cards, but Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham could still try their luck with bids to bring him to the English game. Morata managed 9 goals for Real this season, but faces plenty of competition for places at the Bernabeu and may be tempted to move to a club where he would be guaranteed more regular first-team football.

34. Marcos Rojo (Sporting Lisbon)

Sporting Lisbon defender Marcos Rojo has certainly made quite an impression in Portugal this season. The versatile Argentine can operate effectively either at centre-back or left-back and has been linked with big names such as Arsenal and Liverpool in recent months as a summer move looks increasingly likely.

33. Yuto Nagatomo (Inter Milan)

Inter Milan left-back Yuto Nagatomo’s fine form in recent times finally looks to have earned him a big move away from the club, with a list of teams reportedly queuing up to sign him this summer. Manchester United have been linked with the talented Japanese international in the past, while Tottenham now look ready to do battle with Spanish giants Real Madrid to snap him up this year. The 27-year-old would no doubt be a fine addition to the Premier League if an English club does manage to win the race for his signature.

32. Paulinho (Tottenham Hotspur)

After a strong first season with Tottenham, Brazilian midfielder Paulinho could now be set for a quick exit from White Hart Lane. The 25-year-old managed eight goals and two assists in all competitions this season, which has seen several top European sides show an interest in his services. However, he could also stay in England if he makes the move to Spurs’ London rivals Chelsea, who have also been linked as admirers of his. Spurs will no doubt be keen to avoid selling one of their best players to another Premier League side, but Paulinho could be keen to become the latest in a strong Brazilian contingent at Stamford Bridge.

31. Adem Ljajic (Roma)

Serbian attacking midfielder Adem Ljajic has long been linked with several teams in the Premier League after establishing himself as one of the top young players in Serie A. Having made the move from Fiorentina to Roma last summer, Ljajic could be on the move again this summer after failing to find his best form at the Stadio Olimpico, though this has not put off big clubs in England. Liverpool and Manchester United have reportedly been placed on alert as the 22-year-old looks likely to be available for a cut-price fee.

30. Mario Mandzukic (Bayern Munich)

Although Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic has played a crucial part in Bayern Munich’s tremendous success of the last couple of seasons, the arrival of Robert Lewandowski at the Allianz Arena this summer looks set to push him out of the door. The 28-year-old has supposedly not had the best of relationships with Bayern manager Pep Guardiola, and will be given the chance to talk with other clubs. This has sparked interest from big names all over the continent, including several from the Premier League. Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been mentioned as potential suitors for the prolific forward as they all eye new signings in that position.

29. Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund)

One of the best centre-backs in Europe, Mats Hummels could finally be set for a move away from Borussia Dortmund after attracting interest from numerous big names in recent years. Barcelona perhaps look the favourites to sign him at the moment, but there could still be offers from the likes of Manchester United, who are believed to be long-time admirers of the German international, while other English clubs have also been linked with him in the past.

28. Iker Casillas (Real Madrid)

Although Iker Casillas managed to establish himself as number one again at Real Madrid towards the end of this season, helping the club to glory in the Champions League, it is still thought that Premier League clubs are sniffing around for his signature. The Spaniard had been out of favour at the Bernabeu for some time, first under now-Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and later Carlo Ancelotti, and the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City could still be ready to test Real’s resolve for him in the coming months, as he will certainly want to avoid being dropped to the bench again at this stage in his career.

27. Ivan Rakitic (Sevilla)

Recent reports suggest that Sevilla midfielder and captain Ivan Rakitic could be close to completing a move to Barcelona, though after the Croatian’s fine form in recent times there will no doubt be plenty of intent from top English clubs to hijack a move. The 26-year-old was one of the best midfielders in Europe this season, scoring 13 goals and providing 12 assists for his team as they won the Europa League, and his fine form has previously seen him linked with the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United. It would certainly be great for neutrals to see this classy playmaker in the Premier League, and he would no doubt go down as one of the signings of the summer.

26. Javier Hernandez (Manchester United)

Things have not quite gone to plan for Javier Hernandez at Manchester United after he enjoyed a terrific first season at Old Trafford back in 2010/11. The Mexican international has been increasingly on the fringes of the first-team since then, despite a decent scoring record, and looks likely to be on the way out of the club this summer after nearly leaving last year. There is plenty of rumoured interest from clubs in Spain and Italy, but Hernandez could still stay in the Premier League as he is also said to be a target for Tottenham, who are in the market for new signings upfront after last summer’s big-name signing Roberto Soldado has failed to find his best form in north London.

25. Ricardo Rodriguez (Wolfsburg)

One of the best young defenders in Europe at the moment, Ricardo Rodriguez’s fine form for Wolfsburg could be set to earn him a big move this summer. The 21-year-old was one of the stars of the Bundesliga this season, contributing a highly impressive five goals and nine assists from left-back to establish himself as a truly top class player. While there has been interest from German champions Bayern Munich, Rodriguez could also be wanted in England as the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United all chase new signings in that part of the pitch.

24. Layvin Kurzawa (Monaco)

With all the big-money signings at Monaco, one of their stars of last season actually ended up being young left-back Layvin Kurzawa. The 21-year-old Frenchman looks a terrific prospect, and with five goals and three assists from defence, he has shown some potential to play as a winger in the future. Manchester United and Chelsea have reportedly looked at him, and it would be no surprise to see this top talent make his way to England at some point, although mega-rich Monaco have no real need to sell.

23. Mehdi Benatia (Roma)

Only signed by Roma last summer, Moroccan centre-back Mehdi Benatia could already be heading for the exit door at the Stadio Olimpico after a superb first season at the club. The former Udinese man helped establish Rudi Garcia’s side as genuine title challengers and one of the most solid defensive teams in Serie A, and his fine form has not gone unnoticed by Europe’s elite. Barcelona are believed to be big admirers of his, but the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool could be ready to enter the running to bring him to the Premier League. Both clubs are in need of defensive strengthening this summer, and Benatia could be one of the best options on the market. However, Roma are unsurprisingly keen to keep the player, and recent reports suggest he could command a fee of as much as £50m.

22. Carlos Vela (Real Sociedad)

After a disappointing first spell in England with Arsenal, Carlos Vela has now developed into a top player in La Liga with Real Sociedad. The Mexican, who can play upfront or out wide to good effect, is now reportedly being lined up for a return to the Emirates Stadium due to the Gunners’ option of a buy-back clause in his current contract. Liverpool have also been linked with the 25-year-old, who scored 21 goals and provided 13 assists for Sociedad in all competitions this season.

21. Adam Lallana (Southampton)

One of the players on everyone’s lips at the moment, Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana looks a certainty to leave the club this summer after a truly outstanding campaign. The 26-year-old has been with the Saints for his whole career so far, but looks like being the latest of the club’s successful academy graduates to make the move elsewhere. Liverpool are seemingly the favourites to sign him and could offer as much as £30m for the versatile attacker, who scored 10 goals and contributed six assists this season. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s move from Southampton to take over at Tottenham has inevitably seen the wide-man linked with a switch to Spurs as well, in what could be an intriguing transfer battle this summer.

20. Maxime Gonalons (Lyon)

Long linked as a target for Napoli manager Rafael Benitez, Lyon captain Maxime Gonalons has also impressed Premier League sides with his commanding performances in recent times, and could still make the move to Arsenal or Manchester United in the upcoming transfer window. The 25-year-old has been with Lyon for his entire career so far, but looks well suited to the English game and looks set to move on to try a new challenge before next season.

19. Pedro (Barcelona)

One of several players whose future at Barcelona is currently under some doubt, Pedro Rodriguez could be one of the best options on the market this summer for clubs looking for quality in the wide positions. The Spaniard has been a key part of Barca’s recent success, and produced great numbers again this season with 19 goals and eight assists from the flanks. The main contenders for his signature at the moment would appear to be Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, according to various reports, and it would be no surprise if more big names joined the running for this highly effective attacking player, who has won everything there is to win in the game.

18. Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

Although an ankle injury in a friendly for Germany may have ended Marco Reus’ hopes of playing at this summer’s World Cup, there will surely still be plenty of interest from various top clubs in snapping up the Borussia Dortmund star. The 25-year-old has been one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe for some time now, and he further cemented his status as a world class performer with 23 goals and 15 assists for Dortmund this season. Barcelona were recently reported as closing in on his transfer, but there may still be a chance for the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United, who have both been linked with him on more than one occasion in recent months.

17. Juan Cuadrado (Fiorentina)

Initially a right-sided wing-back, Colombian star Juan Cuadrado has made a name for himself for Fiorentina this season playing in a more advanced role. The versatile attacker has been one of the best players in Serie A this term, scoring 15 goals and providing a further eight assists for his team-mates, attracting strong interest from a host of big names in the process. Italian champions Juventus look among the favourites to sign him, but he could still end up in the Premier League as the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United hope to win the running for his signature.

16. Bastian Schweinsteiger (Bayern Munich)

After recent stories emerged that long-serving Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger wanted to leave the club, a move to the Premier League could now be on the cards for the German international. The 29-year-old has had a terrific career in the Bundesliga, forming a key part of Bayern’s treble-winning side of 2012/13, and he now seems keen on a new challenge. New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal appears to be one of his main admirers, and the Red Devils appear to be the leading contenders to bring him to England.

15. Toni Kroos (Bayern Munich)

Toni Kroos has been the subject of increased speculation for months now as he has continued to stall on signing a new contract with Bayern Munich. The classy German playmaker has been a highly impressive member of this Bayern team, but could be another of the club’s big names ready to take on a new challenge this summer. Top clubs all around Europe have shown an interest in the 24-year-old, but again it is Manchester United‘s need for a long-term replacement for Paul Scholes that has seen them emerge as the leading contenders from England to snap him up. It remains to be seen exactly what van Gaal’s plans for this summer will be, but it has been suggested that a deal for Kroos could be struck before next season

14. Julian Draxler (Schalke)

After appearing to come close to joining Arsenal in January, Schalke starlet Julian Draxler will surely be on the Gunners’ radar again this summer as he continues to establish himself as one of the most promising young players in the world. The 20-year-old will no doubt be expensive, but a big move to the Premier League would certainly make him one of the talking points of the whole summer if it did happen.

13. Ezequiel Lavezzi (Paris Saint-Germain)

Another of several big-money signings that has not exactly paid off for Paris Saint-Germain, Ezequiel Lavezzi could be available this summer as the French giants look to rebuild their squad. The Argentine winger was one of the stand-out performers at his previous club Napoli, and he remains highly regarded in Serie A with a number of clubs there reportedly looking at him. Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea have also been linked with the 29-year-old, who managed 12 goals and 10 assists this season despite never truly hitting top form.

12. Nicolas Gaitan (Benfica)

Benfica have struggled to keep hold of many of their best players in recent times, and Argentine attacker Nicolas Gaitan looks like another big name who could be heading to a top club in the near future. The skillful wide-man has shown plenty of ability in providing good numbers of goals and assists, and looks ready to test himself in a more competitive league after helping Benfica to the title in Portugal this season. Liverpool and Manchester City currently look to be the main clubs in England battling it out for his signature, while Manchester United have also been linked with him on occasion.

11. Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea)

Despite highly impressive loan spells at West Bromwich Albion and Everton over the last two seasons, Romelu Lukaku’s time at Chelsea looks likely to be over, with the young Belgian revealing that he hopes to put himself in the shop window at this summer’s World Cup. With the Blues close to making a major signing upfront with the £32m capture of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid, Lukaku could continue to struggle to get the playing time he wants. Big names from abroad have been linked with the 21-year-old, and it seems likely that Chelsea will favour a move for him to leave the Premier League, though Everton could still try to sign him on a permanent deal, while Tottenham are also thought to be interested.

10. Mario Balotelli (AC Milan)

Former Manchester City man Mario Balotelli remains a controversial figure with his new club AC Milan, and it may be that the Italian giants are already ready to allow the striker to leave after just a year-and-a-half at the San Siro. The 23-year-old has 30 goals in 54 appearances since he joined Milan from City last January, and his undisputed talent continues to see him linked with a number of top clubs around Europe. A return to the Premier League looks like a possibility, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all emerging as contenders in recent times, though there has been some suggestion that none may be able to afford the player.

9. Antoine Griezmann (Real Sociedad)

One of the best goalscoring midfielders in Europe this season, Antoine Griezmann is another top talent from Real Sociedad who looks set to move on to bigger things in this summer’s transfer window. The Frenchman will be hoping for a chance to impress at this summer’s World Cup, but he will also have a long list of clubs chasing him in that time. While Real Madrid have shown some interest in keeping him in Spain, the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea have all been linked with moves to bring him to England.

8. Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich)

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has been one of the most improved players in the game over the last few years, and recently signed a new contract at the Allianz Arena to continue at the club that has been such a good home for him. However, he is a big favourite of his fellow countryman and new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal, who has reportedly made him one of his top targets for this summer’s transfer window. The former Chelsea and Real Madrid man has been linked with United in the past, but there now seems to be genuine potential for him to make the move to Old Trafford, where he would certainly represent a major improvement on United’s current wide options.

7. Isco (Real Madrid)

One of the brightest young talents in Spain, Isco was strongly linked with a move to Manchester City last summer, though he declined to follow his manager Manuel Pellegrini from Malaga to the Etihad Stadium and instead joined Real Madrid. Things haven’t quite taken off for Isco at the Bernabeu, and it has already been suggested that the 22-year-old could be on his way out of the club, with a move to England again a possibility. It remains to be seen if City will revive their interest in the Spaniard, but he looks likely to have offers from both Arsenal and Liverpool if he does choose to switch La Liga for the Premier League.

6. Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

Another Real Madrid star whose future remains uncertain is French striker Karim Benzema. The former Lyon man has been in superb form this season, coming back to his best after a difficult spell last term. With Liverpool’s Luis Suarez continued to be linked as a top target for Real, it could be that Benzema is sold to make way for the Uruguayan, despite his excellent return of 24 goals and 13 assists in the 2013/14 campaign. Arsenal and Chelsea are both in the hunt for new strikers, and seem the most likely English clubs to make offers for the 26-year-old if he does become available this summer, while Manchester United are also long-time admirers of his.

5. Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)

Edinson Cavani was one of the most in-demand players in Europe last summer, being linked with a host of top clubs in Europe and England before eventually making a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain. However, the former Napoli star has not managed to find his best form in Ligue 1, and seems unlikely to force his way past Zlatan Ibrahimovic to become the focal point of the team anytime soon. While Chelsea have been strongly linked with the Uruguayan in the past, it now seems that Manchester United would be the leading contenders to bring the prolific 27-year-old to the Premier League.

4. Thomas Mueller (Bayern Munich)

Despite establishing himself as one of the best and most important players at Bayern Munich in recent seasons, it has recently emerged that Thomas Mueller could be set to leave the club after finding himself increasingly left on the bench by manager Pep Guardiola towards the end of this season. The 24-year-old is undoubtedly one of the best attacking midfield players in the game, and has scored 99 goals in his six seasons in the Bayern first-team. Although he will surely not come cheap, Manchester United have been linked as contenders to sign the German international, who is also thought to be a target for Barcelona.

3. Alexis Sanchez (Barcelona)

Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez has arguably just had his finest season for the Catalan giants, though he seems set to become a victim of the club’s desire to cull large parts of their squad in order to rebuild after a highly disappointing trophyless campaign. The Chilean international was linked with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United last summer and remain keen on him, and although recent reports suggest he could be close to joining Juventus, there could be English interest in him again. Arsenal are reportedly hoping to rival Juve for his signature, and Sanchez would undoubtedly be a terrific signing for the Gunners and a boost for the Premier League as a whole.

2. Angel Di Maria (Real Madrid)

After coming close to leaving Real Madrid last summer, Angel Di Maria has shown a great improvement in form this season to help the club to a cup double of the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. The Argentine star showed his superb ability in Carlo Ancelotti’s more attack-minded system, contributing a highly impressive 11 goals and 26 assists to Real’s season. Despite his fine displays, it is still thought that the club could consider offers for him this summer, and there will no doubt be plenty interested in snapping him up. Arsenal and Manchester United are again looking like the leading contenders to bring him to the Premier League, and have reportedly been told he will cost £40m.

1. Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona)

In what would be one of the stories of the summer, former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas could make a return to the Premier League after just three years back at his boyhood club Barcelona. The Spanish playmaker has not had the best of times at the Nou Camp since he left Arsenal for Barca in 2011, and is reportedly available for around £30m as the Catalan giants are keen to be rid of him. Surprisingly, reports have emerged that the Gunners will not be taking up the option to re-sign him, meaning he could be lining up for one of their rivals next season. Chelsea currently look the favourites to bring him in as they eye a long-term replacement for Frank Lampard, while Manchester United could also revive their interest in him from last summer. Liverpool and Manchester City have also been mentioned as outsiders for his signature.
