Famous French football journalists Pierre Mennes and Daniel Riolo have suggested that Didier Deschamps’ decision to leave Samir Nasri out of his World Cup squad was more down to the influence of Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny and Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris.

Rumours have circulated that Nasri’s questionable attitude led some of the senior players in the French squad to request their manager to leave him out.
