Lampard one of three big-name targets for Redknapp.
Queens Park Rangers could look to sign former Chelsea star Frank Lampard as Harry Redknapp eyes three of his former players from his time at West Ham United, the Daily Mirror reports.
FC Toronto striker Jermain Defoe and free agent Rio Ferdinand are also in Redknapp’s sights after the former Tottenham Hotspur manager guided QPR to promotion to the Premier League this season, but the exciting arrival of Lampard on a free transfer remains a genuine possibility.
The 35-year-old left Stamford Bridge this summer after a 13-year association with the club, and is also thought to be weighing up a move to the MLS with New York City FC, though he could be open to a loan move back to the Premier League before the start of the league season in the US.
Lampard first rose to prominence under Redknapp’s guidance during the pair’s time at West Ham, and is now regarded as one of the finest midfielders to ever play in England.
Defoe and Ferdinand were also among Redknapp’s success stories at Upton Park, and although it is thought that QPR owner Tony Fernandes is not convinced by the signing of the latter, who was recently released by Manchester United, Defoe could be another signing brought in on loan next season.
Defoe also played under Redknapp at Tottenham and Portsmouth later in his career.
