It appears that Rodgers is being rewarded with a hefty transfer war-chest following his side’s successful return to Champions League action and as such has the funds to make offers for some of Europe’s top talents.

Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana is still very high up on the Anfield radar with a £25m bid having been made for the England international according to the BBC.

The 26 year old had a standout campaign for the Saints last term, scoring and regularly providing assists, helping the south-coast side to a top half finish.

The playmaker has helped Southampton from League One up to the upper echelons of the English top tier and may feel that it’s time for a ‘step-up’ and the chance to compete at Champions League level and major honours would surely tempt Lallana.

Having seen boss Mauricio Pochettino leave for Tottenham the St Mary’s side will struggle to keep hold of their best talents with Lallana and left-back Luke Shaw expected to follow Lambert to a Southampton exit.

Southampton turned down an opening bid of £20m but £25m may be an offer they choose to accept, though 25% of any fee they agree will go to Lallana’s former club Bournemouth.

Rodgers may see Lallana as a long term replacement for veteran skipper Steven Gerrard.

Another player said to be closing in on a move to the Merseyside outfit is Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno.

The 21 year old has apparently already agreed a five year deal and Liverpool are set to pay £17.9m for the Spanish international according to the Daily Mirror.

Moreno helped his Andalusian side to a top five finish in La Liga as well as a Europa League crown, making 43 appearances in all competitions.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is seemingly looking for a fresh left-back option with his current first choice Jose Enrique missing most of last term through injury.

Though England youngster John Flanagan stepped into the breach with real verve it appears that Rodgers may elect to use the defender in his primary position at right-back next term.

Liverpool are also said to be close to completing a £15m deal to sign Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri according to the Daily Star.

Shaqiri is rightly considered one of the hottest prospects in European football but his first team chance at the Allianz Arena have taken a blow under boss Pep Guardiola.

Having made a real impact in his first campaign, playing a part in Bayern Munich’s treble winning success in 2012/13, Shaqiri was no doubt looking to kick on last term but was handed just ten Bundesliga starts.

Rodgers is looking to bring in additions to boost his options in the final third and Shaqiri may well be seen as a third prong in an attack that could see the pint sized wide-man play alongside Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
