Fabregas move hinges on new Barcelona signing.
Chelsea will have to wait for Barcelona to complete the signing of Ivan Rakitic from Sevilla before the Catalan club will confirm the sale of Cesc Fabregas, according to Marca.
The Blues are widely expected to get their hands on former Arsenal captain Fabregas this summer after the Spanish playmaker was put up for sale by his club, but confirmation of the deal has been delayed due to a desire for Rakitic to be brought in first.
The Croatian playmaker has been one of the best midfielders in La Liga for the last couple of seasons and will make a great like-for-like replacement for Fabregas, who has not managed to find his best form at the Nou Camp since sealing a dream return to his boyhood club back in 2011.
Still, the 27-year-old will get another chance to shine in the Premier League if he makes the move to Stamford Bridge, and it is thought that the move can finally go through later today as Barca hope to wrap up the transfer of Rakitic.
After a disappointing season in 2013/14, new manager Luis Enrique has been tasked with rebuilding the squad at Barcelona, and big names such as Koke of Atletico Madrid and Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund have also been mentioned as top midfield targets.
However, it is now being claimed that club officials will hold talks with Sevilla today to sign Rakitic and allow Fabregas to leave the club.
