Italian champions to snap up Gunners defender.
Check in to Belgium vs Algeria
Juventus are the latest club to show an interest in out-of-favour Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen this summer, according to Italian source TuttoSport.
The Belgian centre-back has been out of the first-team picture at Arsenal for over a year now after being dropped for a poor run of form, and chances of him regaining his starting spot in Arsene Wenger’s side look slim after the emergence of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny as a solid central defensive partnership.
The likes of Napoli and Inter Milan have previously been linked with the former Ajax man, though it could now be that Juventus will move to add him to their backline for next season, with Antonio Conte keen to improve his squad as they chase a fourth consecutive Serie A title win.
Vermaelen has previously been regarded as one of the most solid defenders in Europe and could benefit from the chance of a new start in a different league, though his departure could leave the Gunners somewhat short of backup options.
It is also claimed that Juve are winning the chase against Arsenal and other clubs for the signing of young Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, who has been the subject of much interest and transfer speculation for the last few months.
