Arsenal’s Perfect Transfer Window In 2014 Including The Arrival Of La Liga Trio And Liverpool Target

How the Gunners could look after a fine summer of deals.

After finishing fourth in the Premier League despite topping the table for more days than any other side in 2013/14, Arsenal are expected to make some changes to their squad this summer.

The fact they ended what was approaching a nine-year trophy drought by winning the FA Cup was a positive, but manager Arsene Wenger will still be keen to improve things.

So here are the players the Gunners could sign this summer if they have the perfect transfer window.

Karim Benzema, Real Madrid

Starting with arguably the biggest deal the North London outfit have been linked with so far in the close season and a player who could well be available after entering the final year of his current contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Benzema has been in fine form for Madrid since a £30m switch from Olympique Lyon back in 2010, but has always been overshadowed by Cristiano Ronaldo and a similar price could convince Los Blancos to sell.

Serge Aurier, Toulouse

With Bacary Sagna on the move this summer when the Frenchman’s current deal is up, Wenger needs to sign at least one new right-back and Aurier has been repeatedly on their radar for some time.

The 21-year-old greatly impressed in Ligue 1 last term and as well as being defensively sound also managed to score six goals and provide six assists in the French top tier, although Liverpool are also in the hunt.

Mario Balotelli, AC Milan

Speculation is rife that this former Manchester City forward is ready to leave the San Siro just 18 months after returning to Italy and some of the biggest sides in England are keeping tabs as a result.

Balotelli may have a reputation for being a difficult character, but it is hard to deny the 23-year-old’s talent – especially when it comes to scoring goals.

Iker Casillas, Real Madrid

With Lukasz Fabianski having joined Swansea City and Emiliano Viviano returning to Parma after an unsuccessful loan spell, a new goalkeeper is needed to compete with Wojciech Szczesny.

However, with Casillas having been reduced to cup appearances only for Madrid over the past two years, the Spain captain could be available.

Antoine Griezmann, Real Sociedad

This France international is a hugely popular figure with fellow countryman Wenger, who has publicly admitted he is interested in signing the 23-year-old.

Griezmann scored 16 La Liga goals last campaign and although generally plays on the left flank, can also operate on the right and as a striker.

Morgan Schneiderlin, Southampton

Another problem area for the Gunners over the past 12 months is defensive midfield, where a holding player is thought to be needed to allow the more creative stars to shine.

With an exodus seemingly being undertaken at St Mary’s currently, Schneiderlin could be the ideal candidate to fill that void.
