Chelsea’s Perfect Transfer Window This Summer Including Former Arsenal Captain & £32m Diego Costa

How the Blues would like their summer of deals to transpire.

It was a solid if unremarkable return to Chelsea for manager Jose Mourinho in 2013/14, with the club finishing third in the Premier League and reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The lack of trophies will concern Mourinho and owner Roman Abramovich however and as a result the Blues are expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer.

So here are the stars that could be arriving at Stamford Bridge if the West Londoners have a perfect window ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.

Diego Costa, Atletico Madrid

This is the deal that looks most likely to happen after Costa completed a medical at the club earlier in June and is expected to finalise a £32m switch to the Bridge in the near future.

The 25-year-old scored 37 goals in all competitions last term, which fired Atleti to La Liga triumph and their first ever Champions League final.

Cesc Fabregas, FC Barcelona

Another who has been strongly linked with the West London side is Fabregas, who is unwanted at Barca and Mourinho has admitted he has interest in the midfielder.

The 27-year-old has struggled to settle at the Nou Camp since a switch from Arsenal in 2011, but the Gunners are understood not to be interested in re-signing their former captain.

Felipe Luis. Atletico Madrid

With Ashley Cole having confirmed that he is leaving his club of eight years this summer when his current contract expires, a new left-back is a priority for Mourinho.

Cesar Azpilicueta filled in admirably in the role last campaign, but may well be switched back to his more familiarly place on the right and Felipe could be the ideal alternative.

Sami Khedira, Real Madrid

With Frank Lampard on his way this summer and question marks over the futures of both John Obi Mikel and Ramires, central midfield is also a key area for recruitment.

Mourinho is a big fan of Khedira having signed the Germany international for Los Blancos back in 2010 and the 27-year-old could well be available for the right price.

Eliaquim Mangala, FC Porto

In defence Cole is being joined by David Luiz on the departure list – with the Brazil international joining Paris Saint-Germain in a £40m move – and therefore new faces at the back is a must.

With the ability to play either centrally or as a left-back, Mangala is an attractive prospect – although Porto will hold out for a large transfer fee for the Frenchman.
