Five Strikers Arsenal Are Looking To Sign This Summer Including Tottenham Target & La Liga Duo

The forwards that the Gunners have been linked with.

One area where Arsenal are expected to strengthen in the transfer market this summer is upfront, where manager Arsene Wenger says they have relied on Olivier Giroud too heavily.

The France international was the only striker at the Emirates Stadium last season who showed any decent form, with Nicklas Bendtner out of touch and Yaya Sanogo yet to score his first goal for the club.

Therefore it’s expected that Wenger will sign at least one new forward before the 2014/15 campaign starts and here are five players the 64-year-old has his eye on.

Mario Balotelli, AC Milan

This former Manchester City star left the Etihad Stadium for the San Siro 18 months ago and yet has already grown frustrated back in the city of Milan.

The club underachieved last term and will not be playing Champions League football next year, which could make the Gunners an attractive prospect for Balotelli.

Karim Benzema, Real Madrid

Bizarrely Los Blancos have allowed Benzema to enter the final year of his contract at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and therefore speculation surrounding his future at the club is rife.

Wenger is a long-term admirer of his fellow countryman, but it would take a significant offer to convince Madrid to sell.

Mario Mandzukic, Bayern Munich

Many top sides from across Europe are on alert as Mandzukic has admitted he would like to leave the Allianz Arena this summer after disagreements with the board.

Robert Lewandowski has also been signed for Bayern on a free transfer and therefore Mandzukic is ready for a new challenge away from the Bundesliga.

Alvaro Morata, Real Madrid

Back to the Spanish capital now and a 21-year-old who Wenger has admired for some time, but can’t get Los Merengues to lower their asking price enough.

Morata is somewhat frustrated under Carlo Ancelotti due to a lack of starting opportunities in the first team and a deal could well be reached for the youngster.

Loic Remy, QPR

Finally an attacker who impressed greatly whilst on-loan with Newcastle United last season and is a relative bargain with what is understood to be a £9m release clause written into his contract.

Remy was also spotted at the Emirates Stadium towards the end of last term, although Tottenham Hotspur are also desperate to sign the 27-year-old.
