Former Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has taken charge at White Hart Lane this summer, and he’s expected to make some moves in the transfer window before the start of the 2014/15 season.

In a perfect summer for the Argentine boss, here’s who we reckon he’d bring in and out the door at Spurs.

IN:

Blerim Dzemaili – Napoli

The Swiss midfielder could quite possibly be the first arrival at Spurs this summer. The 28-year-old is combative, and would provide a more experienced upgrade on Nabil Bentaleb, who was regularly used last term under sacked boss Tim Sherwood.

Romelu Lukaku – Chelsea

Spurs are one of many teams chasing the excellent Belgian forward. Lukaku is still only 21-years-old, but has bagged 32 Premier League goals in the past two seasons. Tottenham badly need striker improvements, although Chelsea would likely prefer to sell or loan to a club outside of England.

Alvaro Morata – Real Madrid

Ideally, Tottenham will bring in two excellent strikers. If they manage to persuade Real to sell them Morata, they will have arguably the two most talented young strikers in Europe on their books! Carlo Ancelotti has claimed he’s available, and Tottenham will have to move quickly to secure him before Juventus or bitter rivals Arsenal.

Adam Lallana – Southampton

Liverpool were favourites to sign the England international 26-year-old, but are apparently not willing to pay Saints’ £30m valuation. Pochettino managed Lallana exceptionally at Southampton, and this could be the key to persuading him to join Tottenham instead of the Anfield club this summer. He would add class and guile to the Spurs midfield.

Daryl Janmaat – Feyenoord

The 24-year-old Dutch international is comfortable on the right of defence and the left, and would be a truly clever addition for Pochettino – whose Tottenham side struggled in the fullback areas last term. Kyle Walker was often injured, and while Danny Rose did OK, there are doubts over the suitability of Kyle Naughton. Spurs may have to battle Manchester United for his signature, however.

OUT:

Roberto Soldado

Spurs should try and get as much cash as possible for the Spanish striker, who at 29-years-old, is unlikely to ever adapt to English football and prove he was worth last summer’s mammoth £26m sum. Atletico Madrid are hovering.

Michael Dawson

Dawson has been a very loyal servant to Tottenham – but his lack of pace became increasingly notable last season – and most Spurs fans would like to see Younes Kaboul or Vlad Chiriches partnering Spurs’ best defender Jan Vertonghen at the back.

Etienne Capoue

Another one of last summer’s fairly uninspiring signings, Capoue’s season with badly affected by injuries – but he didn’t do an awful lot when on the field to show he could play for a top four hopeful. With Sandro at the side, and potential new battling midfielder Dzemaili, he could be surplus to requirements.

Kyle Naughton

Naughton proved last season that while hard working, he’s probably not good enough for Spurs. Against Liverpool, teenage prodigy taught him a lesson in December, and Naughton was hauled off after 45 minutes as a result, and the fullback never really regained his confidence.

Mousa Dembele

Dembele is undeniably a strong footballer, and at his best – his dynamism is truly effective. However, Lallana would provide a technically sounder and more exciting option – and is unlikely to be injured as much as the Belgian powerhouse. Dembele would likely command a decent transfer fee, which would help pay for some of the new recruits.
