Man Utd & Arsenal Fight It Out to Sign Italian International

Premier League trio interested in Italy international.

Premier League trio Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are all thought to be interested in Juventus central defender Angelo Ogbonna, reports the Daily Express.

The Italian international only joined the Serie A champions last summer from Torino, but after first team opportunities proved to be limited, it is thought he is keen to move away from the club already. The 26-year-old played just 16 times for Juve in Serie A over the last campaign.

This has alerted the interest of a host of clubs and the imposing centre-back appears to have plenty of options across Europe. Italian newspaper TuttoSport believe that Ogbonno’s agent will  be in England this weekend to discuss a potential move, however, both Ligue 1’s Monaco and La Liga’s Atletico Madrid have also shown an interest.

The 6ft 3in defender has been capped nine times by Italy but failed to make it into his country’s World Cup squad, largely to his inactivity at Juventus.

Manchester United are in the market for players in most areas of the  pitch but defence appears to be a particular priority after the experienced pair of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand left the club earlier this summer. With a larger transfer budget than their rivals they could well be in pole position to bring in the Italian in the near future.
