Kolarov puts an end to transfer speculation by signing new deal at the Etihad.
Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov has pledged his future to the club by signing a new three-year extension with the English Champions.
The 28-year old Serbian was linked with a move back to Italy, where the likes of AS Roma, Lazio and Juventus were among the sides interested in signing him, but he has put to rest all such rumours by agreeing to carry on with the Citizens.
“I am very happy and very proud of this new contract,” Kolarov was quoted by the Daily Mirror.
“I will give to this club probably the best stages of my football career and I am very happy that I continue with this club which feels now like my home.
“Last season I played a lot and I think I proved to people in the club that they can believe in me and the result was that I was offered a new contract and I was happy to sign.”
Kolarov played the lion share of matches at left-back under new boss Manuel Pellegrini last season, making 44 appearances for City in all competitions, clearly establishing himself as a mainstay in their defence.
The attack-minded full-back also offers plenty going forward, and an extension means that the Citizens could now be very secure of their options at left-back with French defender Gael Clichy offering competition to Kolarov.
