Five Players Who Look Set for the Chop At Chelsea

Five stars Chelsea will likely move on from Stamford Bridge this summer.

Chelsea have been hitting the transfer market pretty hard so far this summer, and the transfer window proper hasn’t even opened yet. With that in mind, there will undoubtedly be some casualties in their quest form squad improvement, and below is a list of the most likely candidates to move on over the coming months.

5. Ryan Bertrand

It appears that Bertrand has realised that it’s just not going to happen for him in a Chelsea shirt after being shipped out on loan to Premier League strugglers Aston Villa for the second half of the season. Since breaking into the first team back in 2010 he has made just 56 appearances for the club, and comparing that to the 170 appearances he has made for other clubs during his sort career the writing appears to be on the wall. There was a hope that he would get his chance to shine following Ashley Cole’s impending departure, but Mourinho’s pursuit of Atletico Madrid’s Felipe Luis looks set to confine him to the exit door.

4. Marko Marin

The (former) German international was held in high regard when he joined the club two summers ago, but he struggled to make an impact at the club and after only 15 appearances in his maiden campaign he was shipped off to Spain in order to salvage his career that had unexpectedly hit the rocks so early on. A year in Sevilla doesn’t seen to have done him as many favours as he’d hoped, featuring just 30 times across all competitions and scoring twice, but with the Blues’s continued expansion there is seemingly less and less room for him in the current set up.

3. Victor Moses

Despite enjoying an impressive debut season at Stamford Bridge the season before last, the Nigerian international found himself on the way to Liverpool for the year last summer, where he sadly failed to make the same kind of impact. After just two goals in 22 appearances he now heads back down south to London knowing that he faces a search for a club to save him for featuring as a League Cup player, which would be a tragedy given the promise that he showed doing his original year in west London.

2. Demba Ba

Ba’s inevitable exit from the club has ‘saga’ written all over it and in all likelihood won’t actually go ahead until the closing days of the transfer window when he will leave for some semi successful club in some far flung corner of the globe for an exorbitant fee. Be has shown that when he is given the chance he can impress in front of goal, but he won’t want to be a bit part player for any longer as he will surely feel that he can offer much, much more.

1. Petr Cech

Cech looks ready to end his ten year association with the club prematurely this summer as Jose Mourinho will want to keep young star Thibaut Courtois happy. Furthermore, Courtois has earned his chance at the number one spot having excelled himself in Spain. However, Cech looks far from being done with the top level, and will look to secure a move away to the right club when the time comes for him to say goodbye.
