Tottenham to Sell Seven In Major Squad Overhaul

White Hart Lane side ready to conduct clear-out.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is ready to ring the changes with an extensive clear-out of the White Hart Lane squad he has inherited from former boss Tim Sherwood according to the Daily Mirror.

Given that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy invested over £110m on new additions last summer one imagines that he will insist Pochettino looks to player sales to cover a predominant portion of funds needed to invest in new talents.

Here are the seven players set to leave the north London club.

Roberto Soldado

Spanish international cost a then club record of £26.5m but consistently failed to deliver the good, his return of six Premier League goals from 28 Premier League appearances is even more appalling when you consider four of those goal came from the spot.

A move back to La Liga seems plausible though a lot could depend on just how much Levy is willing to lose on his investment.

Andros Townsend

England winger had an up and down campaign and despite impressing, briefly, for club and country the 22 year old doesn’t appear to have a long term future at Tottenham.

Stats of just one goal and zero assists in 25 Premier League appearances in 2013/14 tell their own story. QPR boss Harry Redknapp is said to be interested in the young attacker.

Michael Dawson

Inconsistent centre-back had a poor season when called upon and is another player said to be on Redknapp’s Loftus Road radar and if Pochettino is going to re-fashion the Tottenham defence then he may well be ready to sell the 30 year old this summer.

Jake Livermore

Battling midfielder was farmed out to Hull City and did a great job at the KC Stadium and is surely a player Steve Bruce will look to bring in on a permanent basis.

The sheer number of central midfield options at White Hart Lane means a summer exit is on the cards.

Harry Kane

The England Under 21 international is perhaps a surprise inclusion on this list given that the youngster looked solid when called upon in the final months of last term.

The Spurs striker netted four goals from eight starts last term.

Etienne Capoue

Least used of Tottenham’s tough tackling enforcers and a player who didn’t look at that high a quality performer when he was called upon.

With the likes of Sandro, Moussa Dembele, Paulinho and Nabil Bentaleb all ahead of Capoue in the pecking order it’s no surprise that the former Toulouse man may leave this summer.

Nacer Chadli

Belgian had a decent campaign but only showed in brief glimpses of his quality and having scored just once in 24 Premier League fixtures, and creating little else besides, a Tottenham exit wouldn’t be a huge surprise.
