Arsenal Transfer Targets: Five World Cup Stars Arsene Wenger Should Buy

Talents on duty in Brazil who should be on the Emirates Stadium radar.

Antoine Griezmann (Real Sociedad & France)

Stylish winger had a very useful opening World Cup fixture, causing Honduras all sorts of problems, and the 23 year old has long been an Arsene Wenger target and should surely now be a player the Arsenal boss makes a formal approach to sign.

With both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott spending big chunks of last term out injured there is even more of a reason to consider a move for the La Liga star, who last term bagged an impressive 16 goals in domestic league action for Real Sociedad.

Karim Benzema (Real Madrid & France)

Powerful forward bagged a brace against Honduras and is a player who is in rich vein of form having been handed a regular starting spot under Carlo Anceotti.

However the Italian manager’s push for fresh striking options could lead the 25 year old former Lyon man to consider leaving the Bernabeu this summer and could finally link up with long term admirer Arsene Wenger.

David Ospina (Nice & Colombia)

With Lukasz Fabianski leaving for Swansea City the north London side need a strong keeper to challenge Wojciech Szczesny for the first team spot and the 25 year old Colombian may be a useful man for the job.

Ospina greatly impressed during the qualifying phase for the World Cup finals and kept a clean sheet in his side’s opening game of the tournament as Colombia beat Greece 3-0 in Belo Horizonte.

Sami Khedira (Real Madrid & Germany)

Likely to start for Joachim Low in Germany’s opening fixture with Portugal and a player who could be a very viable summer transfer target.

The tough tackler could well be the ideal replacement for veteran Mikel Arteta, with the Spaniard having a fairly average campaign and has just a year to run on a contract that may well not be renewed.

Serge Aurier (Toulouse & Ivory Coast)

Considered by many as the most likely signing Arsene Wenger will pursue as a direct replacement for Man City bound right-back Bacary Sagna and a good display at the World Cup may just make such a deal a reality.

Former Chelsea man Didier Drogba has been glowing in his praise of the youngster, who had a hand in both Ivory Coast’s goals against Japan in their World Cup opener. A player who wouldn’t cost the earth and very much in the mould of previous Wenger captures in the sense that he is by no means a household name but a player with obvious potential.
