Mourinho could well challenge for the league title with this team.
It is beginning to look as if Chelsea will have quite a busy summer of transfers after signing Cesc Fabregas from FC Barcelona and manager Jose Mourinho admitting a deal for Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa is imminent.
Blues owner Roman Abramovich will want to see silverware after investing more of his millions and therefore Mourinho will want to have the best team possible at his disposal.
So here is how we expect the West Londoners’ starting XI to look after a summer of transfers.
GK – Thibaut Courtois
After spending three years away from Stamford Bridge on-loan at Atleti, Courtois is confirmed to be coming back to his parent club and is likely to usurp Petr Cech from the No.1 spot.
RB – Cesar Azpilicueta
Last term Mourinho established Azpilicueta as his go-to full-back, with the Spaniard playing mostly on the left – but we expect the 24-year-old to revert back to his familiar right side.
LB – Filipe Luis
With Ashley Cole having confirmed he is leaving the club this summer when his current contract runs out, a new left-back is required and Filipe is the preferred choice.

CB – Gary Cahill
Last season Mourinho’s side established themselves as the best defensively in the country and that was thanks to the top-class performances from this England international.
CB – John Terry
Alongside Cahill was the captain and the 33-year-old is a firmly established member of the first team once again and has recently signed a new deal as a result.
CM – Cesc Fabregas
The big news in the transfer market last week was the Blues’ capture of Barca ace Fabregas, who was turned down by Arsenal and instead completed the switch to the Bridge instead.
CM – Nemanja Matic
Re-signed by the club in the January transfer window, Matic immediately proved why he is thought of as one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe and should compliment Fabregas perfectly.
RM – Willian
Signed for £30m in somewhat controversial circumstances last summer – the Brazilian had completed a medical with Tottenham Hotspur – the 25-year-old’s hard work rate and ethic showed he was worth the hassle.
CAM – Oscar
When Mourinho returned to the club in 2013 one of the first things the 51-year-old said was that Oscar was his preferred No.10 ahead of Juan Mata and now the Brazil international has to repay that faith.
LM – Eden Hazard
Completing the attacking midfield is a Belgian who won the PFA Young Player of the Year in 2014 and despite a falling out with the manager, is set to achieve great things in West London.
ST – Diego Costa
Completing the lineup is a 25-year-old Spain international that Mourinho has openly admitted the club are close to signing from Atletico after he scored 37 goals in all competitions last campaign.
