Five Left-Back Options For Chelsea This Summer Featuring Manchester United’s £30m Target

The players Mourinho is looking to sign to replace Cole.

With Ashley Cole having revealed he is leaving Chelsea this summer after eight years with the club, manager Jose Mourinho needs to find a new left-back for the Blues.

As good as Cesar Azpilicueta was in the role last season the Spaniard is naturally a right-back and backup for the 24-year-old will be needed in any case.

So here are five options that Mourinho is eyeing up as a replacement for Cole.

Iasmin Latovlevici, Steaua Bucharest

Most English fans could be forgiven for not having heard of this Romania international, who currently plays in his home nation with Bucharest.

Latovlevici is 28-years-old and has just a year left on his current contract, meaning the defensive ace would be a cheaper option after the outlay on Cesc Fabregas.

Filipe Luis, Atletico Madrid

Players from the Vicente Calderon Stadium appears to be a real favourite of Mourinho, with Diego Costa on the verge of signing and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois returning after three years on-loan with Atleti.

Filipe was a key part in the side that won La Liga and reached the Champions League final in 2013/14 and appears to be the favourite to replace Cole.

Alberto Moreno, Sevilla

Liverpool were thought to be on the verge of signing this Spain international, before the two clubs disagreed on a price and the deal fell through.

Moreno is still just 21-years-old and yet had such an impressive year with Sevilla that the youngster was named in Vicente del Bosque’s preliminary squad for the World Cup.

Luke Shaw, Southampton

There has been much hype around this 18-year-old, who over the past two years has greatly impressed at St Mary’s with his mature performances.

Shaw looks likely to be the next star to leave the Saints, following manager Mauricio Pochettino and Rickie Lambert, although Manchester United currently lead the race.

Georgi Schennikov, CSKA Moscow

Certainly a cheaper option than many others on this list, Schennikov can be seen this summer starring for Russia at the World Cup.

The 23-year-old is thought to be available for around £7m, although both AC Milan and Real Madrid have also shown interest.
