Ligue 1 giants winning Cole chase.AS Monaco are currently the favourites to sign veteran Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole on a free transfer this summer, according to the Daily Express.
The 33-year-old looks highly likely to be leaving Stamford Bridge as his contract ends this summer, and the likes of Liverpool and AC Milan have also recently been linked with a move to snap him up.
However, it is now thought that he could be heading for a big-money move to Ligue 1 after Monaco moved ahead of other interested clubs as the bookmakers’ favourites to be his next club.
Although Cole still looks to have plenty to offer at the top level, he fell out of favour with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho for much of the 2013/14 season, with Spanish right-back Cesar Azpilicueta playing out of position on the left-hand side over the former Arsenal man.
The signing of Brazilian full-back Filipe Luis from Atletico Madrid also looks to have pushed Cole out of the door, but he could become the latest big name to move to the ever-improving Monaco, who signed the likes of Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez in last summer’s transfer window.
Monaco are currently priced at 8/11 to sign Cole, while Liverpool remain among the favourites at odds of 7/2 to bring the former England international to Anfield.
