Five 2014 World Cup Stars That Pochettino Wants To Sign For Tottenham Including Arsenal Target

The players at the tournament in Brazil that Spurs have their eye on.

Tottenham Hotspur are going through a transition period this summer with new manager Mauricio Pochettino expected to make big changes.

Despite spending over £100m on new players last summer Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is likely to pledge some funds to the new boss and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is a great platform to view potential talent.

So here are five World Cup stars that Pochettino is looking to sign.

Daley Blind

The disappointing displays from Danny Rose and Kyle Naughton at left-back last season has made the North London outfit look to new options in the position.

With the ability to also play as a wing-back and a central midfielder this Netherlands international is a versatile player to boot.

Memphis Depay

Another Dutchman now and a 20-year-old who is being billed as the new Cristiano Ronaldo for the youngster’s style of play.

Depay scored the winner for his country against Australia on Wednesday and it’s thought the PSV Eindhoven star would fetch around £17m.

Stefan de Vrij

The third and final Dutch star on this list and a defender who scored in the 5-1 rout of Spain in his nation’s World Cup opener with a well taken header.

De Vrij is a 22-year-old who plies his trade for Feyenoord and impressed in a season when the club returned to form in the Eredivise.

Blerim Dzemaili

With Etienne Capoue, Paulinho and Sandro all being linked with moves away from White Hart Lane this summer, Pochettino is looking to other options in central midfield.

Napoli’s Dzemaili is a Switzerland international who is yet to play at the World Cup, but could feature in their next match with France which could decide the winner of Group E.

Loic Remy

Finally with Emmanuel Adebayor the only striker who showed any sort of form for Spurs last term, signing a new forward is a priority for the new manager.

The North Londoners have identified this France international, who impressed on-loan at Newcastle United last campaign and has a £9m release clause written into his QPR contract – although Arsenal are also interested.
