Five Stars Of The 2014 World Cup Arsenal Are Looking To Sign Including Liverpool Target Alexis Sanchez

The players the Gunners could sign on the back of the tournament.

With the 2014 World Cup well underway there are many Premier League sides using the competition as a platform to view potential new signings.

For Arsenal this is no different, with the North London outfit expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer as they look to improve on their fourth place finish in 2013/14.

The Gunners have been linked with several players, but here are five stars of the World Cup that they want to sign.

Serge Aurier

This right-back had a fine 12 months with Toulouse in Ligue 1 last season, scoring six goals and providing the same amount of assists in the French top tier, whilst also being defensively sound.

Aurier has taken that form into the World Cup, where he is part of the Ivory Coast team, and the 21-year-old has openly admitted he would be attracted by a switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Mario Balotelli

The Italy international scored the goal that sank England in his country’s opener at the tournament and the 23-year-old is also unsettled with current club AC Milan.

English fans know the striker well from the two-and-a-half years Balotelli spent with Manchester City, but it’s now Arsene Wenger that wants the forward.

Sami Khedira

Having turned down the chance to re-sign Cesc Fabregas from FC Barcelona – with Chelsea swooping in instead – it’s clear Wenger is not in the market for an attacking midfielder.

However, the Frenchman does want a more defensively minded player in the middle to provide cover for the forward runs of Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere and this Germany international is about to enter the final year of his current contract with Real Madrid.

Mario Mandzukic

The arrival of Robert Lewandowski and a bust-up with head coach Pep Guardiola means Mandzukic will definitely be leaving Bayern Munich this summer.

The North Londoners are desperate for competition for Olivier Giroud and having top-scored for Bayern last term this Croatia international could be the ideal option.

Alexis Sanchez

Anyone who has seen this attacker’s performances for Chile at the World Cup must be wondering why he isn’t in the Barca starting XI every week.

However, due to a lack of first team opportunities at the Nou Camp, Sanchez would be open to a move away and could add more potency to a waning Gunners front line.
