Liverpool Transfer Shortlist Revealed: Spain Star And Serbian Wonderkid Amongst Five Anfield Targets

Liverpool are set to make significant steps in the transfer market this month as the Anfield side prepare for their UEFA Champions League return.

The following five names could be on their way to Liverpool, according to the Daily Star.

Alberto Moreno

Sevilla left back Alberto Moreno was on the standby list to go to the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Spain, but will perhaps be relieved to have missed out given the disastrous campaign endured by the double European champions and holders.

Moreno enjoyed a tremendous season at club level, helping his team keep nine clean sheets, and galloping forward whenever possible.

The 21 year-old scored three goals in La Liga last term, and could well be shaped into a world class full back by Brendan Rodgers.

Dejan Lovren

Dejan Lovren showed his clear ability to play at the highest level when only a questionable penalty allowed Brazil to equalise against an in-control Croatia in the World Cup opener.

The centre back, 24, is also proven in the Premier League. Lovren has a hugely impressive debut season under his belt at Southampton, and would be far from a risky signing for Brendan Rodgers.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Bayern Munich playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri’s career has stalled somewhat since transferring from FC Basel to the Bavarian giants in 2012, but he remains an incredibly exciting and talented player.

The surplus of attacking midfielders at the Allianz Arena could result in more playing opportunities for Shaqiri on Merseyside, and he could make a significant impact alongside the likes of Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho in red.

Shaqiri is still just 22 years of age, and his potential yet to be fully realised.

Adam Lallana

Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana is an exceptionally versatile player, whose capability on either flank and in the centre is eased by his comfort using both feet.

The 26 year-old took a long time to break through to the highest level, but has demonstrated he is able to perform on the biggest stage by starring for England over the last year. He could improve even further at Anfield.

His current club Saints are proving tough negotiators however, and Lallana’s future remains unclear.

Lazar Markovic

SL Benfica winger Lazar Markovic is a hugely exciting player on both flanks, with his combination of speed and skill a constant threat to the opposition goal.

The Serbia international scored five goals in the Primeira Liga last season as the Portuguese giants won the domestic treble, and he was voted into the UEFA Europa League squad of the season as Benfica reached the final.

Markovic has already got three seasons of first team football under his belt at the age of 20, and could go on to great things.

His future may well be at Liverpool.
