Manchester United To Blow £100m On Exciting World Cup Foursome

We look at the four players that the Red Devils plan to bring to Old Trafford using £100m.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is keen to spend half of his £200m summer transfer budget on four players that are involved at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, according to The Express.

1. Arturo Vidal

Vidal has been very impressive in his two World Cup outings so far, helping Chile to victories over Australia and Spain.

The 27-year-old Juventus midfielder ranks high on Van Gaal’s wish-list and is valued at £38m.2. Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez is another Chile international that Manchester United have their eye on.

The pacy 25-year-old winger will not be allowed to leave Barcelona for less than £20m, but that figure is unlikely to put the Red Devils off.

Sanchez scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 La Liga appearances last season.3. Thomas Vermaelen

Having lost Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic this summer, United are determined to bolster their central defensive ranks.

Arsenal club captain Vermaelen, who was an unused substitute as Belgium beat Algeria 2-1 on Tuesday, is wanted at Old Trafford.

The Gunners are demanding £12m for the 28-year-old, who moved to the Emirates Stadium from Ajax in 2009.

4. Toni Kroos

That leaves £30m to tempt Bayern Munich into selling Germany midfielder Toni Kroos.

Kroos, who played the full 90 minutes of Monday’s 4-0 win over Portugal, has just 12 months left to run on his current contract at the Allianz Arena.

The 24-year-old completed 2,011 passes in 29 Bundesliga games last season, with a success rate of 91.9%.
