Tottenham Boss Mauricio Pochettino Targets Five Top Quality Summer Signings: Report

White Hart Lane side linked with interest in players who can aid their push for a Champions League berth.

Newly appointed manager Mauricio Pochettino is keen to strengthen the White Hart Lane squad he has inherited from Tim Sherwood and has set his sights on a number of top quality additions that could help in Tottenham’s push for a top four finish.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy forked out more than £110m on new signings last summer and knows that appointing yet another manager will result in yet more funds being poured into his squad and as such may look to Pochettino to sell a number of his squad to help fund moves in the summer transfer market.

The likes of Andros Townsend, Roberto Soldado, Etienne Capoue, Sandro, Erik Lamela, Michael Dawson and Nacer Chadli, among others, must be concerned about their futures at the club under new management, and Pochettino may be ready to ring the changes this summer.

Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea)

Tottenham could well do with signing a striker who can net twenty or more goals and that’s be fair Roberto Soldado isn’t going to deliver such a tally, unless he is awarded 17 penalties.

Romelu Lukaku has often been linked with a move to White Hart Lane and has more than proven himself able to score regularly at the highest level and seems keen on a permanent Stamford Bridge exit.

The 21 year old netted 17 goals during his loan spell at West Brom and bagged 15 with Everton and could be the ideal man to lead the White Hart Lane attack in a brand new attack under Pochettino.

Dejan Lovren (Southampton)

As well as being poor up front Tottenham were often overrun defensively, thrashed by Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea, and the Croatian centre-back had an excellent debut Premier League campaign and could be interested in following his former Saints boss to White Hart Lane.

The 24 year old may feel he can play a part for a ‘bigger’ Premier League side though is perhaps just shy of a move to a top four side and therefore a move to Spurs may be perfect for the former Lyon man.

Tim Krul (Newcastle United)

Interest in the Dutch keeper will only be relevant if Mauricio Pochettino fails to retain the services of current number one Hugo Lloris but is a player who could perhaps fill the void should the French international captain seek a move away from the north London club.

If Tottenham did lose the services of Lloris then 26 year old Newcastle United man Krul would be a sensible replacement and clearly Magpies owner Mike Ashley has little qualms about selling any of his side’s top talents.

Memphis Depay (PSV Eindhoven)

With wingers Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend and Nacer Chadli all struggling to impress in 2013/14 a move for the talented young Dutchman would be a wise one to consider.

The youngster scored the winner as Holland defeated Australia and a player with a very bright future, dubbed the ‘Dutch Cristiano Ronaldo’ the 20 year old is not only one for the future but a player capable of making an immediate impact at White Hart Lane.

Fabian Schar (FC Basel)

Another strong tackling defender and perhaps a cheaper alternative to Dejan Lovren and the FC Basel man would surely be keen on a move to the Premier League side.

The 22 year old has impressed during his two seasons at the St. Jakob-Park side and as well as winning back to back domestic titles the centre-back has also proven himself at Champions League and Europa League level.
