Hosts Brazil go into their game against dismal Cameroon knowing that a point would secure their safe passage through to the knock-out stages – although it would take a freak set of results for the Selecao to exit the competition even if they are beaten by Volker Vinke’s men.

Manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is unlikely to have been happy, however, with the way that Brazil performed in their frustrating 0-0 draw with Mexico in Fortaleza, meaning that he may choose to make some changes ahead of this clash against already eliminated Cameroon.

Hulk is hoping to recover from the injury that kept him out of the Mexico game, whilst Bernard and Willian will both be hoping to be given the nod if he isn’t fit after Scolari’s decision to deploy Ramires from the start against the Mexicans was not a particularly successful experiment.

Brazil’s defence largely picks itself, but criticism in the press of lone striker Fred has put his position under some scrutiny, although Scolari is unlikely to call upon Jo from the start just yet.

With his side already out of the tournament, Cameroon manager Volker Finke may choose to shuffle his pack, despite the fact that the Indomitable Lions are not blessed with options.

The suspension picked up by midfielder Alex Song after his red card in their 4-0 defeat to Croatia may offer an opportunity to Jean Makoun or Joel Matip, whilst striker Vincent Aboubakar is likely to keep his place upfront after a lively display against Croatia, particularly if legendary forward Samuel Eto’o is still sidelined with injury.
