Here’s five stars who’ve shown enough ability already at this World Cup to show they could something to the squad of last season’s Premier League runners-up Liverpool…

5) Divock Origi – Belgium

The only teenager to score so far at the World Cup, 19-year-old Origi bagged the winner as Belgium beat Russia yesterday. Tottenham are eyeing up a £5m bid as well, but his pace and power would go down equally well at Anfield. Liverpool are sending Victor Moses back to his parent club Chelsea this summer, and have very, very little in terms of attacking wide options other than Raheem Sterling – who prefers to play centrally anyway. Origi would provide backup to Liverpool’s wonderkid, and the pair could eventually form an unbelievable duo for Brendan Rodgers.

4) Guillermo Ochoa – Mexico

Mexico’s keeper enjoyed one of the performances of the tournament to keep Brazil goalless, and is available on a free transfer after running his contract down at at Ajaccio in France. Liverpool and Arsenal are interested, knowing that Ochoa would provide great backup and competition for their current first-choice stoppers.

3) Enner Valencia – Ecuador

The 25-year-old is being chased by Tottenham and Newcastle, but has shown with his three World Cup goals so far that he has the ability to make the step up from the Mexican leagues. He bagged 18 in 23 for Pachuca last term, and would add fantastic backup for the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez at Anfield.

2) Bruno Martins Indi – Holland

Liverpool are crying out for defensive improvements, and could do much worse than Holland’s 22-year-old central defender. They’d have to beat Porto to the Feyenoord man’s signature, but he’s already showing at a young age that he has the composure and physical strength to develop into a top, top Premier League centre-back.

1) Juan Cuadrado – Colombia

The Colombian 26-year-old has claimed he wants to stay with Fiorentina, but has shown he has the talent to make the step up and play for a true European heavyweight. He’s a brilliant dribbler, and can beat opponents and provide dangerous deliveries from either the byline or the edge of the area. Like with Origi, Cuadrado would provide Liverpool strength and options in the attacking midfield positions, which will be much needed with a Champions League campaign to play.
