The Best Goalkeepers At The 2014 World Cup With Arsenal & Liverpool Target Impressing

The finest showings from stoppers so far at the tournament in Brazil.

As much as the 2014 World Cup in Brazil has been about goals, goals, goals, there have also been some fine defensive performances along the way.

As a tribute to that CaughtOffside has decided to pick out the five best goalkeepers so far at the tournament.

5. Tim Howard, USA

With just the one appearance so far at the competition in South America it seemed a little unfair to include this American veteran higher up the list.

However, when his nation got off to a good start in Group G with a 2-1 win over Ghana the Everton star was in fine form and kept the Africans at bay.

4. Vincent Enyeama, Nigeria

Only two countries are yet to concede a goal as yet at the World Cup and one is Mexico and the other is the Nigerians, who have been something of a surprise package.

Enyeama appears to have continued his fine form with Lille in Ligue 1 in 2013/14 straight into this tournament and the 31-year-old has kept both Iran and Bosnia & Herzegovina out so far.

3. Guillermo Ochoa, Mexico

As previously mentioned the Mexicans have been defensively sound, with a 0-0 draw with hosts Brazil the highlight of their campaign so far.

If the nation can keep Croatia from scoring in their final Group A game then they will qualify for the last-16 for another year and this former Ajaccio man has attracted the interest of Arsenal and Liverpool with his performances.

2. Keylor Navas, Costa Rica

Although many of the now impressive Costa Rican squad were relatively unknown heading into this competition, Navas was a key figure in Spain last term due to his displays for Levante.

Although Thibaut Courtois was included in La Liga Team of the Year, many think this 27-year-old should have been given the gloves and he has now helped his country to unlikely qualification from Group D.

1. Claudio Bravo, Chile

Yet top of the pile is yet another star from a brilliant Chilean team, who so far in the World Cup have beaten Australia and reigning champions Spain to progress from a tough Group B.

Bravo has pulled off a string of fine saves in both games and the South Americans’ ability to keep their deficit low could be key to their success.
